Author's Profile
Every now and then across the water at night
A child can be seen dressed in long silky white
She dances along the water as elusive as a bird
Her beauty so astounding I can not put into words
Her movements so graceful they shift the moon's release
On the gravity of the earth; every crevice and crease
If the world were to fall apart around her piece by piece
Her dancing would never cease but only increase
And I wait for every day to end so I can say
I have seen this little maiden by the bay
The flowers enveloping her sing in harmony with the bees
The trees bend their barks and their branches tease
The nests that rest oh so gently on their arms
For they too can feel this small lady's charm
All so they can not delay the chance to say
They too have seen this little maiden by the bay
And above her skies so grey now are filled
With pollen and quills from bluebirds uphill
They drift afloat protecting this little girl
From the evil horrors which conjure our world
Above them the aura of purple and blue
Gives the peaceful skies a new shade of hue
And even higher the stars cry from delight
Watching this child dance in silky white
They form constellations in the shape of bouquets
As a chance to serve this little maiden by the bay
And the boats that approach the port to dock
Stocked with piles of wheat held down with rocks
Travel off course and circle the water some more
Their boats too dance with this small lady's accord
And the water itself shifts a new tide
The dried sand on the shore will now twist and collide
Underneath the water so new grains can say
They too have seen this little maiden by the bay
And I stand across from these waters that never end
Attending to this child while my thoughts suspend
She has blended so well with the other creatures that dwell
Dancing through the night until tomorrow morning's bells
She brings such enchantment that drives me crazy
Gazing at her with eyes that are oh so hazy
Oh will I ever deserve the chance to say
That I have met this little maiden by the bay?
