Little green sea thirteen years old
Whom I would like to adopt
To send you to school in Ionia
That you may learn of the mandarin and absinthe
Little green sea thirteen years old
On the lighthouse tower at noon
You'll turn the sun over and you'll hear
How fate is undone and how
From hill to hill our distant
Relatives still communicate
They who hold up the air like a statue
Little green sea thirteen years old
With the white open collar and the ribbon
You'll enter from a window into Smyrna
To copy the gleam on the roof for me
Of the Kyrieleison and the Glory Be
With a little of the North Wind and the Levant
Wave after wave turning back
Little green sea thirteen years old
I'll sleep with you illegally
And I'll find deep in your arms
Pieces of stone with the words of the Gods
Pieces of stone with the fragments of Heracleitus.
