In a crowd you said hello
To me a stranger who knew your
Name I asked on a fine spring
Day your hair came tumbling down in
Rivulets of scintillating color splashed
Upon your gently heaving shoulders
Were lightly browned and delicious
Skin I so longed to touch

Your greeting rang clear through
The din of unknown voices your
Eyes shown ultramarine in the bonny
Afternoon crucible of my heart
Melted as you spoke in the melodic
Singsong of your youth was pure and
Undefiled by fear and apprehension
Knew you not at all

We walked awhile then holding
Hands went running through the
Forest patchwork of sun played
Patterns on your flushéd cheeks I
Touched so gently dimpled round
Your mouth began to smile a
Melody of adoration came flooding
Through my silent lips came
Close to yours then brushing your
Neck they swallowed your
Fragrance exhilirated my hands
Began to tremble with joy

I turned just in time to see you
Turn back and wave your delicate
Hand was warm in mine as we left
The wooded path gave way to
Civilized streets and houses and
Our parting was imminent sadness
Gripped my lugubrious eyes looked
Deep into your soul

The crowd was silent as I
Relived the ringing of your voice as
You bade me farewell and let me
Taste the nectar of your lips were
Whispering something I could not
See which way you went and as I
Looked about me I realized that the
Crowd had left me stand alone
