Walking into her office is such a powerful feeling. I can just feel that uppercase in my head being slammed into submission by the click of those metal balls that are already moving when I step into the room and close the door. A tingle goes down my spine as she raises a hand and motions to the chair in front of her desk again. “Have a seat please.”
I nod and shake the feeling of disappointment off of my face. This is no time to be disappointed, this is time to listen and obey. I step over to the seat and sit, listening to that clicking sound with a soft smile. My purpose in life is to serve this woman, and to make sure her desires are met. I can stand a little disappointment.
“There is someone I need you to deal with. She has refused my invitation and is costing me money.” She leans forward with her elbows on the table, fingers tented in her classic way. “A dossier will be waiting in your room when you return. Then head to the bottom floor. I expect you to deal with this promptly.”
“Of course, the situation will be dealt with very promptly…” I nod, watching each and every little one of her motions. “Is there anything else?”
“Yes.” For a very long time, or so it feels, she just stares at me. All sorts of possibilities cue up in my brain for why but I can’t decide on any of them. Maybe she’s watching my reaction to that clicking.
I can feel that clicking in my head almost, memories echoing, memories I can’t remember but that I know are there. It’s so strange to know that there’s something in my mind that I quite simply do not have access too. But I signed over everything, so she can do whatever she wants. “What is it…?”
That clicking just seems to echo and bounce all around the room, and all around my head, louder and louder by the moment. “Tell me about your run in with Dust. I heard some things happened. Pink told you her code words? She’s not supposed to do that, you know.”
Squirming in place I bite my bottom lip and try to just collect all of my thoughts so that I can adequately respond. “I… after I walked in on Dust with Windy, I woke up the next morning, Dust told me to get Pink for her… It only sounded logical, for some reason, so I did I, but when I got Pink to dust I just… I didn’t want to give her over, but it was so hard… Pink whispered those words against my neck and I used them… After we still almost ended up melting against her, we left her in her room… Disheveled… With various condiments around her and a slice of bread on one of her thighs.”
Click, click, click, that clicking just keeps echoing in my head. “Ah yes. She does like to play.” Click, click, click… “In fact, she was getting quite the collection. You were to be the next. But instead… Well… Looks like she’s yours. Though I’d be careful about your sweet little friend.” That clicking just keeps hitting, even with her voice, just so perfectly. “She’s really not that innocent.”
Each time those metal balls click I feel myself twitch and squirm just a faint little bit more by the moment… “She’s so sweet… Makes me feel giddy. It’s hard to resist her offer…” Very slowly I open up my eyes, watching Her. “I… I hope you’re not upset…”
“I’m just warning you. I let m girls play all they want.” Her head vaguely tilts as that clicking keeps on clicking, and somehow it makes my head feel so thick, like somehow each click pulls another layer of something over me.
That thickness just feels so nice with each pass, each little bit of coating. It’s so nice and irresistible in the way that makes it so good you wouldn’t want to resist if you could. It keeps bouncing around inside of my head, bouncing, clicking, making all of my body twitch just enough. I lean back into the chair and manage a lazy smile. “Thank you…”
“I do however also like to play.” As she speaks she moves one of her fingers out to stop those swinging balls, and when that click never comes it seems to leave an empty… No… it makes an emptiness inside of my head, and slowly moment by moment everything starts to fade.
“Always ready to please…” I can only barely manage to whisper it out as I feel that emptiness filly me so wonderfully, that fading that seems like its something solid as my body turns more than limp as it slides against the chair.
“I know…” Her eyes are the last thing in the world to fade, everything just sliding away…
Moments, or minutes, or hours, or months later for all I know I wake up in the waiting room and Pink is eagerly watching me. “Good meeting?”
With a bit of a smile I nod and stretch out my limbs slowly. “What I can remember of it… And what I can’t, well… I’d love to stay and talk, but… I have a mission that requires me to head out now, so I might see you when I get back!”
“Oh, good luck then…” From whatever she keeps pulling those things Pink holds out that lollipop again and twirls it ever so sweetly, her smile seeming just so sincere.
Shaking my head I bite my bottom lip just a faint little bit. I can feel that capital letter in my head, and I really don’t want to lose it by indulging Pink. The Lady said that she wasn’t quite as innocent as I thought. Does that mean that Pink will just do the same with me that Dust would? Keep me as if I was just a collectable doll with silver skin, a very limited edition? I don’t know what to think. Can’t anyone just want to be sweet from time to time with their fuzzy power but over all be fine with a little bit of mutuality? “I… We’ll talk later.”
As I bow my head and start to rush to the elevator I get a glance of Pink’s eyes. She looks so very surprised. I’m sure she thought that she had me this time, but I just can’t give in to it, not yet if I’m going to. I’d just end up failing Her if I was all pinked out right now anyway.
If this is the way that this whole place works, all of us with the ability to playing for dominance between our missions, trying to own or letting ourselves be owned . . I don’t even know what to do. I step out of the elevator once it’s reached my floor and I move into my room to go and check for those papers I need to memorize. I need to get over this misplaced feeling of guilt…
As I start to read through the papers, they quickly reveal that the target is... Silhouette! She’s a girl with shadow powers, and all sorts of information about her is listed, but I barely need any of it. Silhouette. All I would have needed was the name. She’s been the sort of friend that appeared and disappeared over the course of my super heroine career, and she saved my ass more times than I can imagine. Now, I could have handled all of those situations, but… Wow. I was her friend, and now I’m going to deliver her to Her?
My old life wasn’t this fulfilling though. My old life wasn’t this safe. I can make Silhouette infinitely safer just by helping her work for The Lady. It’s a very small thing to be asked to do by the woman I owe everything to. It’s my duty to Silhouette as much as to The Lady to deliver her. She may resist, but she’ll thank me later. Without a second’s hesitation I change into that white bodysuit that I was given back when I woke up with the electrodes all over me, and leave my room, and soon I’m leaving the building and heading out for my friend’s most common haunt.
Actually knowing her makes finding her ridiculously hard. Following all of the familiar streets before long I see her up on the corner of a rooftop, watching everything below her move about, looking for anything that might need her attention.
Just like I always used to back when I was Sarah LaSilvas with the identity of Silver Girl, and not just Silver, I climb up the fire escape as gracefully as ever and find my way up onto the same rooftop as my old friend. “It’s been awhile, hasn’t it?”
Silhouette stops watching below her and drops into a fighting position, obviously not sure what to make of me. “Do I know you?” Her voice, just like always, seems to wisp out from everywhere at once. At first it used to just creep me out and proved as yet another example that I wasn’t cut out for being a heroine, but once I got used to it, it became just another silly little quirk.
With a faint little laugh I playfully roll my eyes. “Hmph. I spruce up my fashion sense and suddenly you can’t remember me. I’m almost hurt…” Slowly I step a little bit closer, my arms out at my sides, extended as if to say that I’m unarmed. “Silhouette, it’s me, Silver.”
“…Silver?” As she stands just a bit out of her battle stance, she looks just like she always has, a shapely black shadow that has substance, and quite a yummy substance to be perfectly honest.
I nod a little bit and smirk. Silver sounds much better than Silver Girl, but I guess I can’t be ready for everyone to know my updated identity. “Silver Girl just doesn’t have quite the same ring as Silver. It sounds a little bit too childish.” Of course, I don’t mention the reason why I chose that name in the first place. Oddly enough, it wasn’t just because of my silver tan.
“Oh… I kinda liked it. Made it sound more…” She looks me up and down, obviously seeing all of the lovely differences between Silver Girl and Silver. “Well, you look good. How have you been?” She falls out of the attack pose the rest of the way, and she no longer looks like she’s ready to throw me off of the roof at a moments notice. When it has to come down to hand to hand fighting I’ve always favored kicks myself, but Silhouette has always been a Judo kind of woman. To each their own, and to each their Owners.
Knowing her, and knowing that she’s in that relaxed pose I smile brightly and drop my arms down to my sides. “Girl just seemed too… Well I already said it. In any case, I’ve been great. I’m finally getting a handle on my powers…” Slowly I let my head tip to the side a bit. “And how’ve you been…? I heard that you’ve been getting into some trouble.”
“Trouble? No. Where did you hear that?” Her leg moves back strangely in a slightly defensive sort of way as one of her hands rests up on her hip.
I raise a hand and motion around, and as I do I let a single silver spark form at the tip of my finger and move it to about half way between us. “Do you not trust me? I don’t remember you being so paranoid…”
“I’m not paranoid.” She takes another step back, obviously in surprised from the light and I can’t help but grin in instant response. “Wow. Always had such control over those?”
“I’ve always had a good amount of control over them, but never quite so much. I’ve gotten quite a bit better.” Smiling in the sweetest way I can imagine, in my old dull and naïve sort of way I always used to, something that reminds me vaguely of Pink, I fly the little spark over to Silhouette’s shoulder to let it float there like a silvery parrot star, hovering just above. “Relax, it won’t hurt you. I won’t hurt you. I heard from some of our mutual friends that didn’t want you to know you’d owe them a favor. I didn’t want to see you get hurt.”
“… I don’t think it’s going to hurt me. I was just startled.” She looks over at her shoulder at the light, her hand going back to her hip as the other one moves out in a very expressive sort of way. “I’m not getting hurt. I don’t know who told you that. Things have been pretty quiet lately…”
With a bit of a sigh I bow my head. “Then someone is going to be receiving a very not so friendly slap to the face. Either way, it’s been far too long.” Slowly I step just a bit closer, smiling, letting that light shine in its distracting little way. Not having known how to make full use of my powers is actually going to hopefully help me out now. “We should catch up like old times…”
She looks looking at that light so intently that she doesn’t even watch me get closer. “Yeah, we can do that. It’s not like there is much to tell. Same ol same ol.”
“Alright… I’m glad. I was almost worried you were going to make this more difficult…” Before she can react my hand is very gently stroking at her cheek, sending soft, dull, but deep pulses out from each of my fingertips, ad that light on her shoulder starts to shine and flash, making it very hard, I hope, for her to take her eyes off of it.
“Wha… What…” Her eyes stay locked on the light, and that shadowy body of hers seems to shudder, but it’s always hard to tell what she’s doing under her cloak of shadow. “… What’s with the… Hey…” Her voice is so sluggish, and so is her hand as it reaches up to try and stop me from stroking her cheek.
Smiling just a faint little bit more as I watch, I step closer, stepping behind her carefully as I keep my hand at her cheek. My tips still keep caressing, just enough of those pulses to try to keep slowing her down, to fill her up with that silvery feeling but not sending her down, yet. I want to savor this. After all, if she ends up the first of my collection that I claim through perfectly fair work, I’m going to want to look back on this memory happily. You just never know when a very special memory is going to be formed. “You’re far more than a shadow… And I always noticed…”
“Silver Girl… Stop…” Her voice sounds odd, and though they echo through the air like normal they seem to fade quicker. The light glows brightly and though it doesn’t shine off of her, she still seems trapped by it. “Stop… What are you…” She tapes a step back, but her foot finds only air, and she tumbles off of the building.
I scream as she starts to fall and I hook my feet into the roof’s little rise before it goes over the edge before I purposefully fall over the side of the wall to grab at her. I don’t want her hurt, not as my friend, and I’m sure The Lady would be furious! “Silhouette!”
Her falling form flutters, fades and… “Yes?” Her voice rings out with a coy quality from behind me. She’s bending down near the edge, right next to my feet, and looking down at where I could have sworn she was only moments ago. She could just nudge my feet and I would fall, and I might not get up from the fall. For a moment I worry that no one at Chronos would care, just one less toy to play with, but I try not to let that bother me. It’s just a silly thought. They’re my friends, and my owner…
I smash into the side of the building hard, and though this would have helped me pull her up, or let her climb up me, right now this just makes me all the more vulnerable. Slowly I try to pull myself up, but I really can’t manage it. “I… I… Silhouette…”
“You what?” She doesn’t make a single move as her voice echoes out in that strange signature way, and she obviously actually expects an answer.
I try to climb back up, but my hands keep struggling in vain to grab anything to help me pull myself up, and my legs are strained. If I move them much at all, I’ll fall and my luck I’ll fall into the street. Even if I survive the fall, I wouldn’t survive being run over by a car right afterwards, and if I would, I’m sure that it would still hurt like hell. “I… I know that wasn’t right, well, no… You wouldn’t understand…” I try to bow my head against the side of the building, the perfect image of shame, and it’s only partially a lie. I’m just not ashamed for the same reason she might think.
“Try me. I have all night. You though, I forget how long you can hold on to edges like this.” As she speaks, she examines her nails and I know that the best I could hope to do would be to swing my body to the side and grab at the ledge, but then she’d just trip out my feet, lightly crush my fingers…
“We both know that I’m not one of the fortunate who can survive a fall or hold on forever…” Biting my lip I very carefully speak out softly with just a bit of shakiness. “I’ve always wanted to be closer to you, but you’ve always been much more impressive than I am… I just thought if I could show off a bit… Maybe show you what I can really do, that when I stopped, you might be quicker to indulge me…”
“Close? Hmm?” She stays examining her hand with just a bit of boredom to her posture. “Never noticed more than a rather distant admiration at best.” And even if I had been head over heels with her, I never would have showed it to her anyway, so that’s not a very good excuse to put it lightly.
“I’m a rather innocent sort of girl, remember? Even if there was more, I would never have shown you… But I’ve done a lot of maturing, a lot of growing up.” Whimpering I try to reach up to the ledge again and I feel my feet starting to get a bit loose. “A hand, please? I was going to risk my life to save yours, that ought to mean something.”
She considers it for a moment longer than I’d really like her to. “Mmmm… Alright…” She holds that hand out finally and I grasp on tightly as I can, trying to just get back up onto the roof so that my heartbeat will calm down at least a little bit. Now, I have to totally rethink my strategy. She won’t be easy. “Though I do know for a fact that some people have their eyes on you… I also wanted to help protect you, and knowing you, I was afraid that you would go all stubborn on me.”
Slower than she could she helps me up and that makes me feel very worried, but at least she does help me up. “Who do you think has ‘their eye on me’?”
“I’m not telling you unless you let me help you…” My face grows a great deal more solemn and worried, and none of that is forced. “I’m more than I used to be. It’s not thinking. It’s knowing.”
“Mmmhmm…” Her voice echoes out softly and I very faintly smile a bit more. “Sure, you can help me. Who do you think this is?” Even after I just said that I know, she still asks who I think is responsible. This is more than a little bit insulting, but just because you’re a heroine doesn’t mean you become nice, at all. A lot of heroines are worse than the villains.
For a moment that makes me pause. Am I acting like a villain? No. I’m recruiting a super so that The Lady can have what she wants. That’s all that I was born to do, anyway. If I can’t even do this, then she may as well have let me fall. “I’m not sure the names of everyone involved, but there’s this place, this company named Chronos…” Very slowly I nod and bite my lip carefully. “I can get you in. I can get you al the way to the very root of it all.” Of course, once she gets there, she’ll be kneeling at a command, just like I would. She won’t be able to dodge a spark in an elevator, much less one of my stronger, lasting bursts.
“Why would you want to do that? Wouldn’t I want to stay away from them if they have their eye on me? And if you can get me that far, how come you don’t know more?” She’s bent over, crouched down on her feet with her hands on the ground, and she looks like she just might leap away at any moment.
“Please!” I reach out a hand with a whimper. “No. I know a little more. The woman at the top of the building goes by the name ‘The Lady’ to most of them inside. I know the name of her personal secretary and one of her higher ranking officers, and one of her doctors.” Slowly I look down and twist my foot into the roof. “I would have taken care of all of this by myself, but I tried, and…”
She doesn’t leap off, but her posture doesn’t change. “At least you’re okay. Don’t do anything like you were doing earlier, alright?”
“Alright, I won’t…” With a very slow nod I force smile onto my lips. “I won’t. I’m sorry. So we’ll go?”
“No. We’ll go out to eat. I’ll go later. You tell me everything you know, over a hamburger.” Silhouette has never been one much for debating, so I’m not about to press it.
Much.
“But you said you’d let me help you…” I sigh and squirm just a bit. “Well then, where’ll we eat…?”
“I know this great little Diner. Come on.” So very much of me wants it to be Linda’s Diner. I miss her so much, but how would I explain it to her that no matter how much Sarah LaSilvas cared about her, Silver has a whole new life? As Silhouette leads me off, I switch from hoping it’s Linda’s Diner to hoping it is anything else. Even if it’s just a McDonalds, I would take that over it being Linda’s Diner. I don’t want to have to tell her I quit… A very small part of me wishes that I could go back.
A few minutes later we’re walking into a small diner with red stools and milkshakes, just like something out of an old movie. I’ve always loved little places like this. Once we’re inside, my shadowy companion makes a strange motion and like she pulls her darkness away like cape she’s revealed. She’s fairly average looking, but still beautiful, with an odd dark tattoo design around one of her eyes. She’s dressed in blue jeans and a tight baby doll T-shirt with some band’s logo on it that I’ve never seen before. “Best milkshakes. Ever.”
“Sounds great…” For a moment or two I try to puzzle out how to do this, knowing I have to be careful how she’s delivered back to HQ. “Some vanilla would be great about now, but do you really think I’m going to let you go on you own?”
“You couldn’t stop me if I wanted to. You know that.” After a moment a waitress that makes me miss my old uniform leads us to a booth. “So tell me all about what happened.
Once we’re all comfortable and situated I bow my head with a little bit of a sigh. “I just… It’s not safe for you to go alone… When I went, I managed to sneak in, distracting the woman at the front desk with a spark… Got into the elevator, and half way up this woman filled the elevator with dust and… Everything goes wonky after that, but the source that gave me all of my information seemed to be right about everything right down to the smallest detail. I’m just still not half as skillful as I want to be.”
“You were knocked out? And they let you go? They don’t sound evil to me.” She looks over the menu, but I’m a waitress inside even if I don’t do it for a living anymore. I can tell she has it memorized.
“Knocked out is a very over simplified way of putting it.” I lean over, closer to her. “My head was filled with dust. It was filled with a pile of dust twice as big as my own head. Literally. It was a warning. My head is still buzzing…”
“Head filled with dust?” She blinks in a motion of actual surprise and moves her menu to the side. “How does that even work?” Silhouette gains a very thoughtful expression, looking up as if the ceiling has the answer written on it.
I stare down at the table and blush just a bit. “I don’t fully understand how. The woman just literally melted my head down with it. I only have a vague idea of exactly what happened, but…” I shake my had just a bit and keep my gaze down to the table. “When that woman told me that she was the one being sent after you, I… You can’t go alone!”
“How come they would tell you this, then let you go? Don’t you worry someone followed you here?” She doesn’t look nervous at all though, and as a waitress steps up she casually orders her drink, and I order mine, and I don’t look up for a moment.
“I’m thinking it was because it was obvious I couldn’t do a thing to stop them. They didn’t consider me a threat in the least.” Sadly, I really doubt anything different would have happened if my story is true, but it’s not, so it doesn’t matter.
“Yet they know you know me. Something definitely doesn’t seem right.” She looks over at me, but she still doesn’t seem worried in the least. “You should just go after this lunch. Get out of town.”
I look back up with a desperate look in my silver eyes, and I can just imagine that they would be shining with worry if they did that sort of thing. “Maybe I’ll leave, maybe… But not until I go with you. Please, really, you have to trust me on this… I know I’m not that experienced, but I know when something needs to be taken down!”
“It doesn’t work like that. It’s a company. You can’t just ‘take it down’, there are laws. I’m going to see what I can find out about it before I do anything stupid. You, you just get out of town, okay?”
“You have a point, but…” With a sigh I chew on my lip for a moment or two. “Promise that you won’t just brush it off, though? This is serious. I’m not kidding here, at all.”
“I won’t just brush it off, I promise. Hey, milkshakes!” The waitress arrives and sets down two shakes, one Oreo, and one vanilla.
Slowly I “force” a grin as mine is set down and I watch it almost suspiciously. “Thanks… This really means a lot to me. I suppose I can go out of town for a bit, but not till after this drink. It better be all that you said it is.” I wink, and then take a very big drink, hoping it is wonderful, though no taste could compare to Pink or Dust’s taste.
“It is, believe me.” She starts to suck her own down, and it disappears with disturbing speed. My own matches it. This does taste really good. “You really shouldn’t have gone there you know.”
“Hey, I owe you what… Five by now? I wanted to pay at least one back. It was worth a shot, right?” My eyes widen at more and more of that taste and I might even be sipping mine away faster than Silhouette! “Wow, these are good… When’re you gonna go check them out?”
“Check them out? Not directly, maybe never. I’ll hit up contacts, do research. Find out everything I can before doing anything stupid like I said.” Ouch. If I’d really been that stupid, that would hurt.
This isn’t going well, and I know it’s my own damned fault. I could have lied better, or just been more direct earlier. I’m just being sloppy. This is my first try, so I’ll have to do better next time, but… “If you’re too careful…” Very dimply under the table, if anyone was looking they would see my feet glowing through my boots, but only briefly as little sparks twinkle out of both and slowly flow out, two at a time, one from each foot as they form and slowly float over close to Silhouette under the table.
“If I’m too careful, what?” She just sucks down her drink, and I can tell that she’s ever so blissfully unaware.
“Then by the time you’ve gathered all of your information…” I can make these lights pretty fast, and I’ve always been able to make a great deal, but the restaurant is well lit, and even together, those sparks aren’t really all that bright. Now is my time to strike. “… Then by the time you make your move, it’s already too late.” One by one I thrust those lights into Silhouette, and they flood into her ever so quickly, pulsing and dissipating in their sweetly serene way.
Rapid fire she jerks, as if she’s being shot by a silver automatic weapon, and each time she shakes hard and her knees bang the table as her body quivers, and her eyes slowly roll back into her head as her gasps come out ever so pitifully, desperately. I can almost feel those pulses lighting her nerves on fire, and after the last one she slumps back in the booth, and she almost looks like silver smoke should be wafting up from her body.
I grin from ear to ear, and damn, do I feel satisfied. This, is bliss. Slowly I move myself and my drink over to sit beside her as I take another long sip. “I’m sorry I didn’t just try that approach earlier, but it didn’t seem fair is all. I didn’t want to cheat. How do you feel?”
Her head lulls over and her eyes ever so slowly blink as if trying to push that glaze away. “Betrayed…” Her voice nearly sounds like a moan and I shiver just at the sound. I know how that many sparks can feel, but they’ve never messed with my mind.
“That should sadly be about right…” I move close to her, quickly, and press my lips to her cheek to press in more of that silver light before reaching out to grasp one of her hands to send in even more. Once I have her back at home, all fixed up, then I can risk playing with my food, but for now… I can’t take the chance. If only Silhouette was more rush in and ask questions later, we could have drawn out this fun…
Her eyes roll back again as I keep flooding her with my silvery touch, and soon all I can see are the whites of her eyes as she just moans uncontrollably, her body just shaking and quaking until eventually she just can’t take it anymore.
Satisfied I slowly stop all of that energy flow and just smile. “You really are lovely… Now… Do you think you can stand and walk just a little ways?”
“N… No…” She shudders just a faint little bit as she responds, and a moan slides out with her words.
“Hmm, sadly, I didn’t think so.” I smile a little bit more as I kiss just beside her lips, but this time without the extra energy. “Now… You’re all deliciously burned out by a good amount of the potential for just what I can do. Once you fade out of it, you will not remember being betrayed. You will, however, want to stay close to me, and want to check out this mysterious company as soon as possible… You can do this for little old me, can’t you?”
It takes her forever to respond, but when she does, it’s worth it. “… y… yes…” She seems to struggle with something, but her mind is just too fried to think or fight or escape. It’s too fried to do anything but agree. I can see why Dust and Pink love doing this, I can only imagine how much fun The Lady has.
Grinning I give her a quick peck on the lips before I pull back over to the other side of the table, smiling sweetly as I cast a look over her before forcing myself to smile calmly and sip at my shake again. “Now dear… Turn that silly silvered up brain of yours back on.”
Once again it takes her awhile, but when it does click into place she twitches and her eyes slowly slide forwards. “Oh god… I feel so… Unng…” She slumps forward onto the table, and I can just imagine how she feels. “It’s so weird…”
“You really should lay off the shakes you know…” I swirl my straw in what little is left of my shake before I take a little bit of a sip. “That’ll also happen if you haven’t been sleeping well, and damn, do you ever even sleep at all?”
“Ung… My head feels like slag…” She puts both of her hands against her head and rolls it around, as if to try to get her body working right again, but I doubt that it will work.
Note to self: Moderation isn’t always a bad thing, even if it is most of the time. With a sigh I reach out and very softly pet over her hair for a faint couple of moments. “I hope you feel better hun… If there’s anything I can do…?”
“No, I’ll be fine…” She runs a hand through her hair as she talks, squirming just a bit. “I actually feel really good.” She sighs in a happy sort of way as she pulls herself up and brushes her hair back carefully with just her fingers.
“Oh…? Well that’s good!” Laughing just a bit I finish off my shake and move it to the side with a sigh. “So what’re you going to do now? I suppose I could get out of town, and you could get more information on Chronos…” You do not know how hard it is not to grin.
“ n… no, you and I should go down and check it out… Tonight, if we can…” Her hand moves to her swimming head and it gets even harder not to at least smirk. “That sounds better, doesn’t it?”
“Much, much better…” I smile as soothingly as I can, nodding very softly. “Definitely tonight. The sooner we get this taken care of, the sooner everything can return to normal, or back to normal.” I stretch my arms up over my head and giggle just a bit. “I knew you’d let me go with you if I acted pitiful enough. I’m glad that head stayed tight on your shoulders.” I move my leg forward, just barely, and softly press it against Silhouette’s softly for a very brief moment. “Why wait? I’m feeling sort of antsy. You should probably finish your shake though.”
“Oh yeah… Yeah…” She nods very slowly, finishing up her shake, but she does it so very much slower than she had been. She’s still blinking a lot, and she barely responds to my leg.
“You alright…? You seem a little… Rough around the edges…” Worst case scenario, this gets to be a learning experience so that I never blow out another girl’s bran permanently. Best case scenario, this is just temporary afterglow or over buzz, and when it’s done she’ll be fine.
“Mmm… I dunno… I feel really good… Like… I dunno…” Very slowly she stretches, and she seems to enjoy each and ever bit of muscle extending out as she relaxes.
I finally let a hint of a grin seep through as I squirm very slightly in my seat. “I should have been a little bit earlier I suppose… Sometimes it can catch up with you later. Sorry about that.” I stand up slowly, stretching my legs as if I haven’t stood up since I sat down the first time. “There’s always more where that came from, of course, but there’s time for that sort of thing later… We should hurry. If we are being watched, every second…”
“What… We did earlier?” She seems so very confused and as she tries to stand her legs are so weak and rubbery that they shake and threaten to collapse out from under her.
Slowly I hold out a hand with a smile. “Oh never mind. I must be confused. I’ve been really busy lately.” She seems so very overwhelmed by it even still, and it looks so delightful… If The Lady doesn’t have any more assignments for her, right away, I’m definitely laying claim to her. “You sure you’re up to this?”
“Huh… Aren’t you the one that…?” She blinks again as she sways slightly on her feet. “I don’t know… What do you think? I mean I… silver?” She stops for a moment and I stare at her worriedly. Damn. I hope I haven’t ruined this mission again. “No, not you… Just for a moment I thought everything felt silver.” Very interesting. I can make people feel silver? I’ve felt silver before, but I am Silver, so that’s different.
Very gently I reach out to hold one of her hands and lightly give it a squeeze. “I think you’ll be fine, just stay close… And what do you mean, everything felt silver? Did it feel nice?”
“Uh… Yeah… It felt really… Like, I dunno, it just felt…” She slowly follows my lead, still seeming so very unsteady on her feet.
Just as gently I send a very soft little silver pulse through her hand. “Oh, I… I don’t have any cash on me. You have a tab here or can you cover it? I’m sorry, I promise I’ll make it up to you…” And I do plan to make it up to her, in so many ways.
“No, I… I go it.” She takes out her wallet and throws a card down, which is quickly picked up and dealt with. “It’s my treat and all.” As the pulse moves through her, and I can practically taste it, she shivers.
“Are you cold?” I smile, watching her carefully as I look so very concerned, which I really am. I really hope I haven’t damaged her. If I’ve hurt her, I don’t think I’ll ever fully forgive myself. She’s my friend, and The Lady can get a lot more use out of her if after this she can be turned into a useful agent. I’m sure she’ll have a very important job in one way or another, in addition to being mine. “I’d hate to think you’re catching something so common as a cold…”
“No… Kinda hot really. Not cold at all.” She tries to just compose herself as the check comes back and she pockets the card. She can’t hide how she’s feeling from me, but I’ll let her try.
With a nod I lead her out, and start to lead her back to Chronos, back to home. It’s my home now, and it’s way more my home than that old dinky apartment of mine ever was, that’s for sure. “Oh? Hot? Well I hope you don’t have a fever. Are you sure you want to do this?”
“Why do you keep asking? You said I’d be fine… I do want to do this though.” She speaks as if she’s almost surprised by her own comments. So far all of my tests that this is going well are coming back positive. I don’t want to have her pretending to fall down a manhole and kicking my ass later. I can see that happening, with my luck. “And yes… A little flush. Just… I dunno. Just tired I guess.”
“I just don’t want to push you, that’s all…” Smiling I move just a little bit quicker. I’m very eager to get her back to Her. “No worries, no worries at all. I know you can do some things tired most people can’t do wide awake. I have faith in you. You’ll do marvelously just like always!”
“Oh… Are we just going like this, or should we change back?” She follows along right after me, trying to keep up, but that fog is definitely slowing her down.
“I’m in my uniform still hun, so you can change back if you want, but it might even be better if you don’t.” I nod as I can just barely see the building a couple of blocks away. It’s hard not to see something so towering. “Whatever you think is best. You should always do what you think feels best.”
She seems to be trying to put her finger on just why she’s acting, and feeling so odd. I know I could fix her from finding out, but it’s more important to me to just see how I’ve done so far. “You’re talking really oddly… You keep saying . .. Like… Something is odd?” She’s obviously having so very much trouble even just trying to think, and watching her struggle is almost delicious.
Looking very worried I turn back to look at her, raising an eyebrow. “Are you okay? I think it might be you whose seeming a little bit off…” I step close to her, and there’s at most an inch between us. “You see so very confused… Would you like a little bit of clarity?”
“… spread clarity? What do you mean?” She’s obviously still having trouble thinking, and that stumbling and teetering looks so cute as she struggles to stay upright.
My face gains a mischievous smile and I reach out a hand to very lightly hold her shoulder, pressing another soft spark into her. “I mean, would you like a little bit of clarity? You seem so… About ready to fall over. You look not so much rough around the edges, more… Fuzzy.”
Slowly that mouth of hers forms an “o” and a sweet matching sound follows it past her lips. “I… I guess… I do feel fuzzy.”
“You look fuzzy. All cute and covered with a soft layer of fuzz…” I lean a little bit closer and stroke a hand down her arm, sending another, longer jolt into her after grasping a hold of her hand again. “Does it feel nice?”
“Yeah, it does really…” She blinks again, so very slow, and even though she tries to shake that layer of fuzz, it just makes her sway a bit more. “What… Feels so nice…?”
Tisking worriedly I tug her again towards the building, sending another very soft jolt into her whilst doing so. “Must just be being so close to me again. I have that effect on some people, I’ve been told…”
She’s just so easy to drag along, and the soft jolt practically tugs a sound right out of her, as if I’d hurt her, but she most definitely does not sound like that hurt. “You do…? It just feels… My head feels so…” Her hand runs down her face as if she’s trying to feel what’s wrong. A spark of intelligence flares up in her eyes for just a moment. She seems so close to grasping it… “My cheek… Earlier… Your… Your…”
Slowly I turn and smile sadly as I pull her ever so close. “Your cheek? What do you mean? Are you sure you’re feeling quite alright? Might be more than a bit flushed…” I slide the hand not holding hers up to the small of her back and send a jolt right into her spine to follow it up ever so sweetly.
Her legs give out as she groans and just collapses against me. Any words she might have uttered just melt away as my silver spark of bliss arches up her spine and through her body as if it were a very special spiral staircase.
“Oh dear! You really don’t seem alright!” Gently I stroke up and down along her back, letting my fingertips trace light circles and soft spirals. “Maybe you should lay down for awhile, get your strength back… Or maybe you just want an excuse to be close to me. Is that what this is? I’m really flattered if that’s what it is…”
She groans and turns limp against me, seeming to just melt under my spiraling touch as she shudders and twitches, so deliciously limp. “I don’t… I don’t know… Things are fuzzy.”
“Oh dear! You… You should really just rest.” Ever so gently I pull her up from slumping against me and kiss her forehead, sending soft little sparks into her jolt after jolt just to dull her mind that much more. “Maybe you should just take a nap? Rest against me for awhile? You look so very tired…”
I can almost see her tired brain, that lazy mind spinning in her head, right through her eyes. She can sense that something about this isn’t normal, but she can’t seem to react. Good. By the time she can, she’ll have signed herself over to The Lady too, and she’ll be so much happier for it. “Yeah that… Just rest…” She nuzzles up against me, and I can tell that she’s trying to make things focus better with those eyes, but she seems way too fuzzy eyed.
Very carefully I reach down to lift her up from limply standing to cradling her in my arms, holding her close. I might not have super strength, but a bit of leverage and limpness and it’s not that difficult to lift her up. I keep walking, and walk right up to the front door. “That’s good… Don’t let anything bother you besides resting, just resting… It’s so easy to rest against me, isn’t it?”
“Yeah… You’re nice…” Her head buries against me in a very slow show of cuteness that I could never imagine Silhouette doing. It’s almost surreal.
Her doing a thing like that almost makes me want to just melt and forget my mission, just hold her, pet her, show her such affections I know she’s never felt before… And I will, in time, but I know that can wait. Very carefully I take her into the building and nod to the receptionist on the ground floor before continuing on towards the elevator. “I’m glad you think so… You’re very nice too. That’s why you need rest, so you can feel at your best!”
She mumbles something very sleepily, nuzzling into me, and it sounds something like “You know best,” but it’s so hard to hear. Her lips are just so heavy and tired.
“Aww, don’t you even worry about it. You just rest… Just relax against me, melt into me, and rest… When you wake up, everything will be so perfect…” I hit the up button, waiting for the elevator, prepared to just step in and hit 100 without a second thought.
The elevator opens in time with the other girl’s mouth as she lets out another soft little sigh. Somewhere in there she’s still trying to make sense of it, and I can almost feel it, but it’s all too far off, and her mind is so beyond blown.
Stepping into the elevator with her in my arms I carefully hit the 100th floor button and smile, leaning my face down to very softly kiss both of the other girl’s eyelids, watching her with a loving expression as I let a wave of silver sparks roll off of my entire body into my sleepy friend. “Stop trying to make it all make sense… This is a miracle. I’m saving you from everything, and all you need to do is rest… Don’t you understand? You can’t puzzle out a miracle…”
“But…” She seems so close again, but it’s blown away like a strong gust of wind as my silver rolls over her, and her whole body just shudders, from the top of her head down to the tips of her toes, and I can feel it, I can feel that silver wave wipe her clean and take all of the world away.
“But nothing… I’m saving you… Setting you free and keeping you so close to protect you from everything…” The elevator keeps sliding up and I can feel the warmth inside of me, the pulsing pleasure from having done a job well done. I can almost feel my body glowing a very dim silver that’s nothing but pure joy and bliss. “So all you have to do is rest… Okay?”
She nods gently against me, and she just lets that pulse wipe her away, and I can feel the last of her surrender.
“Good… I’m so very glad… Just relax, just feel your worries melting away from you, falling away, all of your responsibilities… None of those things even matter anymore… You have a whole new life ahead of you… And you should be so very eager for it.” Fifty, and I grin to myself. It felt good to be on the receiving end of this, but I’ll admit that it feels even better to be the one dishing it out. “When we get to the top, you will get to learn all of your new responsibilities, your new role… Though one very important thing will remain, staying close to me…”
“Close…” She still stays so limp against me, but her arms very weakly find their way around me, hugging me with barely any strength at all. Her lips whisper with such a reverent tone as her mind wraps around it, that silly melted mind just letting words sink into it.
A small part of me just melts and gushes at the pure adorability of the girl in my arms, and I squeeze her lightly against me just a faint little bit more. “That’s right… You’ll want to be close, but when we’re apart because we have to be, you’ll be just fine… It will be our special moments that you will savor the most, our special moments together…” For a moment I can just imagine having two pillows, one on either side of me, and that just feels lovely. “Almost to the top dearling, that special place where She is… The only person with even more importance with me…”
She looks up at me with eyes so very surprised, and she mouths “more” as if it was the most confusing thing she’d ever heard.
“That’s right…” I smile weakly, and for a very slight moment I allow myself to feel a little bit pouty about that. “You see, she is the one that owns me… It is our purpose in life to make her life easier, to fulfill her desires, to make sure she is attended to… Through serving her there are near unlimited pleasures… Imagine it, a simple life of just obeying Her and feeling great doing it, just being such a good little dear to the two most glorious women in the whole world… Sounds nice, doesn’t it?”
After the statement sinks into her melted brain, it seems all she can do is nod very slowly and mutter yes. That yes means everything. She doesn’t have anything left that isn’t mine, or Her’s.
“Good… I’m so very glad that you understand… The two of us will be close for a very, very long time.” The door finally gets to the top and I step out, grinning like the girl with her hand in the cookie jar who doesn’t care who sees it in there. I carry the melted Silhouette into Her waiting room and look to Pink with a very pleased, triumphant look. “Mind if I bring her in to show The Lady, or is She busy?”
Pink looks up, brushing her namesake hair out of her face, and looks the two of us over. “Oh she should be free. Want be to buzz her… And candy for you and your guest?” She holds up a couple of peppermints as she asks, and I can just imagine what would happen.
Biting my lip though I shake my head. “Well… Buzz her… But I think I’ll pass on the mint dear…” I chuckle in a very worried sort of way as I laugh and twist my foot into the floor. “Maybe on the way out.”
“They’ll be waiting for you. Always.” She presses a button on the intercom in front of her and moves those too soft to be real pink lips to speak into it. “Lady, two for you. Silver plus guest.” After a short moment she looks up to me and nods. “Head right in.”
Nodding softly I smile to Pink and watch those lips of hers. “Remember Pink, your hair might be pink, but those lips are just aching to be silver on the outside just like they are on the inside…” Pink presses her lips together, and I only just barely see her do it out of the corner of my eye, but I’m already turning the doorknob and taking my passenger in. “Hello again! I’ve completed my mission!”
She looks up, putting down a pen and tenting her fingers. “Really now? Is that her? I’ve never seen her out of… Whatever it is she wares.”
“It’s a rare sight for anyone to see, really… At least, and know it’s her.” I step over with a smile and set her down in that chair I’ve sat in every other time I’ve been in this room. “I already burned obedience for you into her mind… She won’t try to resist like I did…”
“Don’t worry. I like a little bit of resistance. Tell me all about it and your feelings on her.” She steeples those tented fingers up near her forehead and points from me to Silhouette.
“Good!” I smile and lean against the back of the chair that the newest member of the Chronos family is sitting in. “I found her one of the tops of her favorite look out buildings… I tried to distract and burn her out, but she outsmarted me. Ended up convincing me to let her take m out to lunch, and then while there… I must have filled her with over twenty of my sparks. I slowly lead her here, letting her know we had our eyes on her, but not why, and not that I was a member… And then, on the way up and in, I programmed her, to obey us. She’s so beautiful, she resisted so well for what I was doing… I found it thrilling… But I find her sitting there helpless with us even more thrilling.
“Interesting…” She nods, simple and plainly. “And do you have any other comments, any other thoughts? Feel free to say whatever you want.” She stares Silhouette with such a pretty demure smile. “Such as what we should do with her…”
I look back and forth between the two of the, back and forth and just delighting in the sight. “She can move in ways no one else can move…” Purring to myself I pet Silhouette’s hair for just a moment before sighing. “Comments, thoughts… I want her to serve you as best as she can. I don’t know how, but I know she’ll come in very handy… And I feel so happy to be fulfilling your goals…” I blush, and I can just feel that dark shade of silver cover my face. “I haven’t been doing this for very long, I have no idea what to say, I’m sure you have all sorts of ideas…”
She nods, another firm simple nod. “I was talking more along the lines of anything you wanted in her head. Her rather pretty head. Think she had the tattoo put on, or if it’s part of who she is… And if she has any others?”
Very slowly I raise an eyebrow, and I feel myself shaking with the rush of that Uppercase becoming lower and lower by the moment in her presence. “I actually have no idea, to be perfectly honest… She’s a bit secretive, even to her friends. I’d be curious to find out, and as for what to put in this pretty container of a head…” Ever so lightly I coo before clawing over her scalp just ever so softly. “She has a protective edge to her, it would be wonderful to refine it.”
“What do you mean exactly… Dull her edges? How so?” She leans forward in that large chair, and she sounds so very interested in the answer. Making Her interested makes my heart flutter in my chest and I practically fall all over myself to respond.
But falling all over myself would not make Her desires fulfilled. She wants an answer. “not necessarily dull them, but… She wanted to protect me when I told her the story that I’d come here and been taunted and thrown out, even after I tricked her not too much earlier. She would make a good person to keep close for that protectiveness…”
“She only fell prey to you because of her own trusting nature… I don’t mind that… So will you be wanting to play with her any? I always give the option to the person who brings them in…” Oh, I can just imagine that Dust said yes…
With a squeal I nod several times very softly, feeling my eyes hood all on their own. “Of course, you’ve earned first dibs…”
“Oh, I know, but… Mmmm cotton pink legs…” She looks to me with eyes just as hooded as mine, and I can just feel the pure enjoyment roll off of her in such a familiar way.
Groaning I fall to my knees, mewling up at her with my hazy eyes, lips quirking up in a weak but very pleased smile. I love fulfilling her desires…
“Tell me exactly what you’d want her to be if she could be anything.” She doesn’t even watch me collapse, but I don’t even care. Her eyes are on her newest toy, just as they should be. She was a present from me, after all. Sort of. My head is just feeling so drippy and runny. “Wh… What… Do you mean?”
“Look at her. Tell me what you’d want from her…” She watches us both, and She looks so pleasantly amused.
Slowly I look up at Silhouette and feel myself purr a faint bit more. “Pet…”
Silhouette stirs just a bit, eyes fluttering for just a moment, her skin just slightly dark with that black tattoo so prettily around her eye with that short equally dark hair… She’s so beautiful. “A pet?”
“Yes… She’d make such a pretty pet…” I watch the both of them, eager to see their reactions, or at least Her’s with what little of a mind I have that already isn’t melted all the way down through the first floor. “All domesti… Domesti… Tamed and melty…”
“Domesticated? A kitty?” She mutters, sounding so very amused. “A little tamed melty kitty.”
Mewling I nod slowly, sweetly, feeling so special for having pleased her with the idea. “Uh-huh… Little kitty for us…” I smile widely and stupidly, even dumb as I am right now I can feel it, and I feel like a new girl whose getting a pretty pretty new kitten!
“Oh yes… A very good little kitty. Sweet… With nice Cotton Pink Legs.” Right as she says those last three words, all I can see are Her own legs that She just placed up on the desk, as the light seems to glisten just right, the whole world is just in those legs and…
The whole world becomes something so delicious, and something, warm, lapping…? Lapping gently, then nuzzling, a dark haired girl on all fours with a collar around her neck, purring softly, and as the world swims into focus I vaguely realize that Silhouette is trying to crawl up into my lap.
When I look down, and see her, my lovely new kitten… I smile ever so brightly and just savor the sight as I memorize each and every pretty smile detail of her as I reach down to lightly pet her hair. “Oh my… So…”
There’s a note attached to her collar, and I carefully pull it away to lazily read it. “Feel free to name her,” it says, and I can feel that She wrote it. “And her words are now, Tasty Silver Kitty.” Silhouette nuzzles into my petting, and her large dull eyes look up to me as she mewls, and lightly paws at my leg. The small bell on her collar rings just a bit, and all that she’s wearing is black very revealing clothing almost the exact same color as her hair. It almost looks like a part of her.
“Such a pretty little kitten… Mmm…” Watching her, I can’t help but giggle beyond happily at each of her cute little motions. She’s such a perfect kitten… She’s a gift from Her, or at least that’s how it feels… “Aww, but you need a name, can’t have a kitten without a name… a special name for a special kitty…” I reach down and scritch very lightly behind her ears before I lean back and lightly pat at my lap. “Come on up on my lap little sweetie…”
She purrs in a way that sounds beyond contented as she stretches up, arching her back cutely as she hops into my lap and pads about lightly before curling up there. She’s so surprisingly light, and her purring can be felt even when my ear is to far away from her lips to hear it.
“Wow… So perfect!” I grin ear to ear and pet all down my new kitty’s back, reaching down to hold her ever so close. “You get to be a very special pretty little kitty! Hmm… That old name of yours was just far too somber a name for a kitty… You deserve a happy, sweet, beautiful name…” Very gently I claw my silver nails over her scalp and feel myself purring a faint little bit. “But for now, I think I’ll just call you my little shadow… Because I think I don’t want you too far from me at any time, ever.
She just keeps purring, huddled up in my lap, so happy, pawing at me once or twice in such a sweet way, and I can tell that she agrees with everything that The Lady left in her.
“Good little shadow…” I grin just a bit to myself. A kitty, a pillow, and next time I see Pink or Dust I doubt I’ll be able to resist having more fun in their heads. No need for guilt. If She says its okay to play, then it’s okay to play. I snuggle with my kitty and squeal beyond happily. Life just keeps getting better and better.
