    Welcome to: The Tails of Rabelaisia,
    Stories from Nikkolai the Bard's homeworld

    Rabelaisia is a world of furrys and humans.

    Home of 'The Bardic Way', it is a world of magic and powers of the
mind.

    The above words were on the opening page of the web site that
hosted these tales until I shut it down.

    Rabelaisia was the deliberately chosen name for the world of
furrys that I created in early 1997. I created this world as a place
to play in and relax.

    After I wrote the first story, I briefly had a companion who also
wrote stories placed in that world. The stories written in 1997 were a
mix of individually and jointly written works.

    However, don't count on tone and stylistic differences to tell you
who wrote a particular story, in some cases.

    The basic premise is a simple one, personal responsibility.

    In the same way Isaac Asimov used the three laws of robotics as
the core concept to drive many of his works, Rabelaisia uses personal
responsibility to generate the conflicts and resolutions.

    With the exception of the parody, all of the stories here are
suitable for general reading audiences or young adults.

    One further note: I have made no attempt to rewrite these and
correct the mistakes made when they were written. They were the best
we could do at the time, and although I would do them differently now,
I am proud of the results achieved then.

    Consider most of them a snapshot of a brief period in two author's
lives, and an example of what perseverence (and the addition of a good
proof reader in 2000) can do to improve writing skills, over time.
