Epilogue After his proposal and her gleeful acceptance, Dave and Jennifer spent an hour of very animated talking with her parents before they drove to QAI. During the two hour drive to QAI, they talked in detail about their upcoming long-distance relationship. They agreed that during his third and final year at Wake Forest, Dave would spend one week on the PGA Tour, then spend one week in classes before he flew to New Dominion to spend every second weekend with Jennifer in an apartment they would rent. They called the twins during the drive and both sisters were very excited to hear the great news. Kyra mock-scolded Dave for not talking to her about his breakup with Anne but Dave explained that only his parents and Alec knew his true intentions because he didn't want her to get caught in the middle with Jana and Jennifer, again. Dave and Jennifer arrived late in the evening on Saturday and went straight to Dave's family trailer in North Beach, so they could spend an intimate betrothal night together. As they arrived in North Beach, he called Alec and Shauna and confirmed the arrangements to meet them in Mamaroneck, New York on Monday for the US Open. Alec was very pleased to hear Jennifer had accepted his ring and said he looked forward to seeing them together. Dave and Jennifer made passionate reunion love - both were very happy to be back in the arms of their mutual soul-mate. On Sunday, Dave's parents were likewise very happy to see them; Julie hugged both of them lovingly as tears ran down her cheeks. Roger and Carol welcomed Jennifer officially to the family. Dave, Jennifer, and his family went out to dinner to celebrate their engagement and Dave's contracts. After the meal, Dave and Jennifer drove to his Uncle Alan's house. Alan had already heard about the engagement and was very happy for his nephew. Dave thanked him again for all his help and support; then he pulled out the envelope he had tucked in his pocket. Alan looked at him quizzically before he opened it. Dave explained that he could not have gotten through all his difficult decisions about hockey and golf without Alan and that Alan would receive four more annual checks for about the same amount. Alan tried to refuse but Dave insisted that he take the money. Alan eventually thanked him with a huge hug. Late Sunday evening Dave's cell phone rang and he was happily surprised to hear Danielle's voice. She was squealing excitedly about qualifying for the Women's US Open. Dave congratulated her and asked when it was. She confirmed that it was the week after his Men's US Open so Dave covered the phone for a moment and asked Jennifer a quick question to which he received a smiling yes in response. He then asked Danielle if she would like him to caddie for her at the US Open. She was surprised by his offer and quickly accepted. Dave then told her about Jennifer accepting his engagement ring and she was very surprised and happy for him. Dave next called John and Darcy to let them know about his engagement. He then sent e-mails to Sarah and Lynn. Dave and Jennifer went back to the trailer for another night of passionate love before they flew to New York on Monday with his parents. Dave played well in the US Open but found he was a little nervous playing in his first professional event as a pro. Tiger had worked on his game tirelessly since The Masters and his game was in top form. Tiger beat Dave by two strokes. Danielle played spectacularly in the Women's US Open and, with Dave on her bag, her confidence had never been as good. She finished second, just one stroke behind LPGA superstar, Annika Sorenstam. The media went crazy when they saw Dave caddying for her and wanted to interview him; but he told them flat out that this week was Danielle's week and to speak only to her. She was surprised by Dave's deference and the way she was inundated with interview requests. She found the media frenzy overwhelming but Dave talked her through it like a seasoned pro and she knew Dave had again given her a lesson that would define her future. Jennifer followed Dave and Danielle around the course for the week and she and Danielle became instant friends. Jennifer thanked Danielle for the special phone call the previous year and they talked about how special Dave was. Dave, of course, felt uncomfortable with the talk about him and went to the pool in the hotel for a long swim. Dave returned to Wake Forest to write his final exams and, although he had not attended many classes during his spring semester, he managed to earn two Bs and a B+. The week after final exams, Dave and Jennifer spent a very special week with Jana and Kyra at a summer camp that Jana and Kyra usually went to each year, The Pines. The week following Dave and Jennifer's adventure with the twins, Dave flew to Liverpool, England for the British Open. He wasn't able to successfully defend his title but did manage another top-three finish. Sergio won his first ever major tournament and Dave congratulated him enthusiastically. Dave and Jennifer spent some time with Sarah and Dave was happy to hear she had met a guy from New Zealand named Kevin and that they were quickly becoming a very serious item. Roxanne stopped by for a visit and she too had met a man and was engaged to be married. Dave won a regular PGA tour stop in late July and his first professional major at the PGA Championship in Medinah, Illinois. In the PGA Championship, Dave beat Tiger by four strokes and the media focused on the new rivalry between Tiger and Dave. They called it the `Cold War' and referred to them as the Super-Powers of golf. The extra publicity helped Dave sign ten more endorsement contracts and his already significant annual income grew even larger. Ford was not pleased that he wanted to continue driving his Honda so he finally gave the car to his sister Beth when Ford shipped him a fully loaded Lincoln Navigator. It was a beautiful black SUV much like the one he and Alec had earlier admired. Dave returned to school in late August and resumed his morning practice routine during the week he attended classes. Both the men's and women's coaches were happy to have him use the facilities and the practice group grew by six more members as the three new female and three new male freshmen quickly joined the now very popular group. The six freshmen were surprised by how much Dave helped them with their games. Both Wake Forest golf teams continued as the number one ranked programs in the NCAA. Dave's prediction held true as WF men's team won four out of the next five NCAA championships while the women's team won three of the next four. Even after he graduated he continued to spend one week every two months with the two golf teams. He truly enjoyed teaching the future stars. Dave and Jennifer were married the summer after he graduated with honors from Wake Forest. His professional golf career continued to blossom and he and Tiger both made huge money off their competitive rivalry. Dave's annual endorsements grew to over ninety million dollars per year of which he donated over ten million per year to charities. Dave and Jennifer eventually had three children - two boys and a girl. They named the boys Alec and John after his two best friends. They debated whether to call the girl Kyra or Jana but finally agreed on Kara. Jennifer became an architect and, although she only worked part time, she did design the lush mansion they built on the hill where their love shack once stood in North Beach. They bought a huge portion of the farmer's land and had stables with horses. Dave's love of riding, which he had picked up in New Mexico on his visit to Anne's family ranch, never died. He remained friends with Anne's family even though he and Anne never got along after their breakup. Dave and Jennifer went to New Mexico to visit Anne's family many times. Alec's share of Dave's earnings made him a very rich man and he and Shauna married the same summer as Dave and Jennifer. Alec and Shauna opened several restaurants in Winston-Salem where they built a happy home for their two sons. John's professional hockey career ended after eight seasons when he sustained a major knee injury. Luckily, he had listened to his good friend Dave and invested his significant salary wisely and was able to retired comfortably at the age of twenty-seven. Darcy turned pro after wining two straight Hogan awards. He had a very successful career and even beat Dave several times on the PGA tour. Leanne also turned pro after her graduation and she had a successful golf career before she and Darcy had a family. They named their first born son David and Dave gave them a baby gift of the smallest set of golf clubs made. They were Taylormade clubs, of course. Danielle turned professional a week after the 2007 NCAA and Dave again caddied for her in the US Open. She won the tournament by two strokes and became a true rival for Annika. She signed numerous endorsement contracts and always acknowledged Dave as her mentor and inspiration in every interview she did. Jana and Kyra became doctors like their mother and both eventually married; they lived within walking distance of each other. Dave and Jennifer remained very close with the twins and their new families. They made sure they got together at least once a year for a reunion at either North Beach or the twins' special summer camp. <1st attachment end> ----- ASSM Moderation System Notice------ Notice: This post has been modified from its original format.
