Chapter Fourteen - The Practice Group Expands Dave slept for two hours and felt well-rested when he woke. As he showered he thought about the conversation he had had with Rebecca and he felt bad for the shabby way he had treated her. She had obviously wanted to make up but he hadn't really given her a chance. He thought about her as he drove back to the hospital. He decided he would call her later that night and see if he could smooth things over. Alec's condition was improving steadily and Shauna's presence seemed to calm him. Dave talked with both Shauna and Patsy and they thanked him again for driving so far. He explained that he would always be there for his friend. Shauna hugged Dave and asked if he would drive her home the next day to get her belongings for her return to school. Dave asked why she was getting her belongings when they weren't allowed to move into residence until that Saturday. She explained that she had had an argument with her parents when she asked to stay that night at Alec's house. Her parents didn't think it was appropriate for her to stay over-night at her boyfriend's house even though Patsy had assured them that Alec was in hospital. Shauna said she told her parents she was staying over-night anyway. Her parents got angry and, after a lengthy argument, Shauna told them she was moving out and she would get her belongings the next day. Patsy said she could sleep in Alec's bed until she was ready to move back into her residence. Dave was surprised but agreed to drive her home to pick up her things. The evening passed slowly as Dave, Patsy, and Shauna remained at Alec's side. The doctors came and went several times. Late in the evening, during one of their tests, Alec cried out in joy when he could suddenly feel his left hand. He looked at Dave with a huge grin on his face - Dave knew he was thinking that he might be able to golf again. The doctor was also very pleased with the results and he declared that any paralysis was now highly unlikely. After he finished, Dave followed him out of the room and asked if he could speak to him in private. The doctor led Dave to a quiet area where Dave asked him whether he thought Alec would be able to play competitive golf again. The doctor had recognized Dave from the newspaper articles and easily understood the question; after he congratulated Dave, he explained that Alec's hand had been severely damaged. He told Dave that numerous nerves and tendons had been severed and a specialist had been brought in to reconstruct his hand. The doctor was pleased that Alec had feeling in the hand but he told Dave that he doubted if Alec would ever get one hundred percent use from all his fingers. The doctor concluded that Alec would not likely have enough feeling in his hand to play competitive golf again - a perfect recovery, although not impossible, was unlikely. Dave could feel tears in his eyes as he thanked the doctor for the information. He was emotionally crushed that his new best friend would never be able to live his dream of a competitive golf career. Dave then remembered what Alec had told him about his scholarship and he tried to think of a solution. He thought about the accident and he decided to ask Patsy if she knew anything about who had hit Alec. Dave hated the idea of suing people, but in this case, it might be necessary. Dave returned to the room and Alec was still excited about feeling his hand. Dave talked to him for a while before he asked Patsy if he could speak to her alone. They left the room and found a quiet place. Dave asked, "I know this is probably none of my business and if you don't want to talk about it, just say so, but what do you know about the man who hit Alec? Do you know if he was insured?" Patsy's face turned pale and Dave thought she might even begin to cry, "The police officers told me that the man's license had been under suspension for drunk driving and that he was not insured. The officer further explained that he had been evicted from his apartment because he couldn't pay the rent and they didn't think he had any money. Several lawyers have approached me but I'm not sure if it is worth trying to sue him or anyone. I'm lucky Alec is still covered by my health insurance because he is a full time student." Dave hugged her, "Everything will work out fine. Don't worry." She hugged Dave close and thanked him for his support. After she went back into Alec's room, Dave pulled out his cell phone and called Coach Dawes. He told Coach Dawes what had happened to Alec and that he was back in Winston-Salem to be with him. Coach Dawes thanked Dave for calling and promised to visit the next day. Dave asked if he could sit down with him late in the afternoon and talk about Alec's scholarship. Coach Dawes asked why Dave wanted to talk about it and Dave explained what the doctor told him and that Alec had expressed concern about his financial situation. Coach Dawes promised to check the university policy on such accidents. Dave thanked him and said goodbye. Dave and Patsy drove home in her car so Dave could leave his with Shauna. When they arrived at the house they talked briefly before Patsy went to bed. Dave thought about how much better Alec was doing and he remembered Rebecca. He called her on his cell phone. When she answered the phone, he said, "Hi, `Becca; I miss you." She immediately noticed that he called her `Becca' this time and she felt wonderful. She had moped around the house all evening and hoping he would call back; now he had. She replied, "I've missed you too. How is your friend?" Dave explained, "He's doing better but he will have to stay in the hospital for a while. I wanted to talk about our conversation yesterday. I'm sorry I couldn't ask you to marry me - but I'm not saying that someday that won't change. I have thought about you all day and I miss our time together." Rebecca began to cry, "I miss you so much. I am so happy you have called. I promise I will make it up to you when you come home. I didn't know that you thought I was going out with someone else. I would have called you to clear that up if I had known. I am sorry I lied to you. When do you think you will be home again?" Dave replied, "I don't know exactly when but I'm planning on taking extra courses over the spring and summer so I may not be home very much this year. Everything has changed since the fall; I don't know if I will wait four years to graduate. If we qualify for the NCAA Championships, I have to stay until early June so I might as well take a sizable course load for the first summer session. That session ends the last of June so I won't be home until July at the earliest." Rebecca almost whispered, "Can you tell me everything that happened in the fall? I only know parts of it." Dave explained about his bad round of golf with Keith and his decision to quit school. He told her about his blowup with the golf coach, telling him where to go and his decision to play hockey. He explained how after talking with her, he decided to finish his term at Wake Forest and make a career decision at Christmas time. He told her about Jennifer's arrival and how she got him back on the golf team and back on track. He told her about his successful golf tournaments and his encounter with Tiger. She was surprised to hear him say he thought he was getting close to being ready to play professionally golf and that was part of his decision to take extra classes to finish his degree early. He finished his detailed explanation with, "But I promise to call you as soon as I get home. I don't know whether either of us will be in a different relationship then, but if not, I'd like to spend some time with you." Rebecca sighed in relief, "I'd like that too. Thanks for being honest with me and telling me your plans. I'd love to spend some time with you when you get home." Dave chuckled, "It's a date then." She laughed, "It's a date. I love you, Dave." Dave whispered, "I love you, too. Goodbye, `Becca; I'll send you lots of e- mails." She whispered, "I'd like that. Goodbye, Dave." Dave closed the phone and climbed into bed. He remembered his times with Rebecca; he fell asleep dreaming of her fiery red bush. Dave and Shauna went to the hospital in the morning, and after a short visit with Alec, they left for Smithfield. As they were approaching Raleigh, Dave noticed a sign for Research Triangle Park, Jana and Kyra's home. He thought about the twins and how it might have been nice to stop in and see them but he knew they were away skiing with their family. It was some sort of family tradition. The rest of the trip passed quickly and Dave was soon pulling into Shauna's driveway. She suggested Dave wait outside and she would bring things out for him to pack into the car. She went into the house and it was almost twenty minutes before she came out with the first bags. As she walked up to the car, Dave could see that she had been crying so he hugged her and asked, "Are you all right?" She simply nodded and then went back into the house. She came back out with her remaining bags and said she was ready to go. Once they were back on the road Dave asked if she wanted to talk about it. She looked at him and, after a long pause, she reviewed what had happened. Her parents didn't think she was mature enough to make the decision to stay at Alec's house and they had threatened to cut off her university funding. She told them that she loved Alec and that she had to be near him because he really needed her. She finally told them that if they couldn't accept her decision and they took away her education fund then she would quit school and find a job in Winston-Salem, so she could be with Alec. That seemed to get the message across to her parents and they backed off their threat of taking her funding away. Dave was surprised that a parent would do that and he remembered how his parents had even allowed him to stay in his house with Sarah and Roxanne while the family was at the campground. He told Shauna that if she needed any help to just ask and he would do whatever he could. She thanked him, thinking his offer was more polite than substantive. They arrived back at the hospital in the early afternoon and kept Alec company. Coach Dawes arrived just before supper and, after spending some time with Alec, he and Dave found a quiet place to talk. Coach Dawes explained that Alec was only on a partial scholarship and that it was on a year-to-year basis. If he was unable to play on the team the following fall, he would automatically lose his scholarship. However, he would be in good standing if he returned during the current winter or summer terms. Dave asked what the scholarship covered and Coach Dawes said it paid all of Alec's residence and meal fees. Dave thanked Coach Dawes for the information and said hopefully Alec would make a full recovery and not have to worry about his educational finances. The rest of the week passed slowly as Dave spent most of his time at the hospital. On Thursday evening while Shauna was with Alec, Dave and Patsy sat down at home and talked about Alec's financial situation. She began by saying that she had finally called a lawyer but, after some investigation, he had confirmed that the man who had hit Alec had absolutely no money or insurance. Patsy was very upset but Dave consoled her and made a proposal, "Patsy, I have talked this over with my father and he has approved my concept of a contingency plan. Hopefully, Alec will recover and be able to maintain his scholarship, but, if he can't, my backup plan could cover his last year of school. I first have to give you some background to explain how I can afford to do what I plan to do." Patsy didn't understand what Dave was planning but she listened as he described how he had saved Sarah's life twice and eventually received a substantial trust fund from Lord Thurlow. He then outlined the plan, "When summer session starts, I can move out of Palmer and pick any roommate I want. Alec and I had already talked about sharing a room because his current roommate doesn't attend the summer session. In the fall I will push him to share a room with me again. If he can't get his scholarship, I'm going to pay his room and meal plan but have Coach Dawes tell him that he is still under scholarship. I have a full scholarship and enough money in my trust not to have to worry about any education costs so I really want to do this for Alec." Patsy refused, "I can't let you do that. You have barely known him for four months and I can't let you spend your money on my son. We can get student loans to cover his last year." Dave looked intensely into Patsy's eyes as he whispered, "Alec was there for me when I really needed him. I had only been here a little over a month and he supported me when I needed it most. Alec has become family to me and I always help my family. I hope and pray he never needs this plan, but if he does, I want you to know that I am there for you and Alec." Patsy hugged him, "Thank you, Dave. I really appreciate everything you have done for my son and me." Dave replied, "You are family, Patsy. Family always looks after each other." On Friday Alec was feeling much better. The doctors were predicting he might be able to get out of the hospital the following Friday. Shauna and Alec had previously arranged their class schedules identically and were in every class together, so Shauna promised to keep notes for him during the first two weeks. The doctors thought he might be able to start classes near the end of the month. Alec would try to keep up using Shauna's notes, but if he wasn't able to do the work, he could still drop some of his classes by January 26th. Alec felt better about not having to miss the entire semester. During the week Dave had a high-speed internet setup installed at Alec's house, so Alec could hook into WIN and get his notes electronically. Patsy again tried to protest but Dave quickly designated it as his Christmas gift to her and Alec; that made it acceptable to Patsy. Alec's father showed up for a brief visit but left after only an hour. Alec was upset but had pretty well accepted that his father obviously had more important priorities in his life. Dave and Alec talked about it briefly but Alec just wanted to move forward without his father. On Friday evening Dave called the twins' house and Kyra answered the phone. She asked where he was and he explained what had happened to Alec. She promised that she and Jana would drive up to see Alec the next day. They talked about their Christmas breaks for fifteen minutes before Kyra passed the phone to Jana and they talked for another twenty minutes. Dave gave the girls his cell number before he said goodbye. The next day, Dave was again at the hospital when the twins arrived for their visit. They spent an hour with Alec and he was pleased to see them. They eventually left the room and Dave followed them into the hallway to say goodbye. As they walked towards the waiting room, Kyra saw an empty room with a tub in it and she pulled Dave and Jana inside. She closed and locked the door then moved into Dave's arms and kissed him passionately. She started pulling off his shirt and Jana quickly understood her sister's plan as she unfastened his pants. Dave was soon stripped naked with Jana sucking his firm shaft while Kyra continued to kiss him. He removed Kyra's top and his hand slip between her legs to find her soft snatch. As he slipped a finger into her wetness, she purred with excitement. He could feel his excitement building as Jana licked and sucked his hardness. He lowered his head to one of Kyra's round firm breasts and sucked the dark nipple into his mouth. She pulled his face tight against her body and he increased the pace of his finger sliding in and out of her wet love hole. He was tapping her g-spot as he felt his own orgasm begin to build. Kyra's excitement was growing quickly, as was his. Just before he felt his load explode in Jana's mouth, Kyra's climax shook her entire body. She was gasping and shaking as her euphoria washed over her. Dave's release felt fantastic, enough to make him dizzy, and he leaned against the counter to keep his balance. When he eventually looked down at Jana's smiling face, she whispered, "Merry Christmas!" He couldn't reply but simply smiled ecstatically; their sensuality had again knocked him silly. Kyra was still leaning against his side and, as they both recovered, Kyra said, "Jana's turn." They stood Jana up and pushed her against the counter. Dave dropped to his knees and lifted her skirt. He pulled her thong panties aside and, as her moist aroma filled his lungs, he began licking and teasing her wet pussy. He felt Kyra working above him and he briefly looked up to see Kyra sucking and caressing Jana's breasts. Dave resumed his work and it didn't take long for both of them to rock Jana's world. She moaned and gasped through a thundering orgasm. Jana moved to the edge of the tub to regain her composure. Kyra begged Dave to take her from behind as she leaned over the counter. Dave explained that he didn't have any condoms and Kyra simply looked at him as if he were crazy. He thought about his relationship with the twins and decided that he didn't need one. He moved behind her and slipped his resurgent hardness into her wet slit. She moaned, "God, you feel fantastic. I have really missed you." Dave moved his hands to her hips and began thrusting in and out of her tight opening. He felt movement between his legs and suddenly felt a wet tongue teasing his balls. He glanced down to see Jana between both of their legs and that seemed to excite him even more. Kyra was pushing back to meet his driving hips and her excitement grew quickly. Dave could feel fingers brushing his shaft and he suspected that Jana was rubbing Kyra's clit because her body began to shake and she soon began to shudder as her orgasm flooded her senses. Dave was very close as well and he drove his seed deep inside Kyra's womb. He kissed the back of her neck as he rested against her. Jana pushed him gently back before she licked and sucked Kyra's dripping snatch. Kyra reached another smaller orgasm as her sister cleaned Dave's juices out of her wet love-hole. Dave sat on the tub and rested as he watched the two loving sisters hug and kiss and share his offering. He was amazed that he had had the great good fortune to meet these two incredible women and he felt privileged that they now included him in their lovemaking. The twins eventually tidied themselves and got dressed. Dave pulled on his clothes and watched as the Kyra opened the door. She led them to the waiting room where they said their goodbyes. The sisters asked Dave if he would take them back to the campus the next day if their mother dropped them off at the hospital after they had taken their belongings to WFU. He said he definitely would and they kissed him before they left. When Dave re-entered Alec's room, Alec asked, "Did you get lost?" Dave's flushed features and bubbly grin gave him away and both Shauna and Alec laughed at their friend. Dave blushed even deeper and he was relieved that Patsy was not there. Dave spent Sunday morning at the hospital before he and Shauna took their belongings to WFU. They dropped Shauna's stuff of first and had just finished putting Dave's belongings in his room when the twins arrived. Dave watched the two beautiful girls get out of their van followed by their gorgeous mother. The girls ran to Dave and hugged him then dragged him over to meet their mother. Kyra said, "Mom, this is Dave." Dave put out his hand and said, "It's nice to meet you Mrs. Coulter-Adams; your daughters are truly special women." She smiled up at the tall young man, "Hello, Dave. Please call me Kara. The girls have been telling me what a wonderful person you are." They spoke briefly before Dave and Shauna helped the twins move everything into their rooms. Kara kissed her daughters goodbye before she left for Research Triangle Park. Dave and the three girls drove back to the hospital and spent the rest of the day with Alec. Alec was getting very tired of the hospital and, as his health continued to improve, he wanted to move home even more. Shauna arranged to use Dave's car to visit Alec each evening. Dave had assured her that he would also be visiting Alec a few evenings. Dave dropped Shauna off at her residence before he parked at Palmer. He had stopped at the university the previous week and gotten a parking pass. He kissed the twins goodnight and went to his room. He and Colby spent some time catching up on each other's Christmas break before Dave went to sleep. Dave met the twins for breakfast where Darcy and Leanne joined them. Darcy was shocked to hear about Alec and asked when he would be able to return to the team. Dave explained that his cast would be on for another five weeks and he would need several more weeks of rehab before he could even start swinging a club again. Aloud, Dave said he hoped Alec would be ready for the tournaments in the middle of March. To himself, he prayed that Alec would be able to resume sometime before the end of the season. Dave left for calculus and accounting but arranged to meet the twins for lunch. Both morning classes went well and were continuations of the first semester. Dave had spent some time the previous week preparing for the first day and was familiar with all the material that was covered. He ate lunch with Jana and Kyra before they all went to American Literature. The required reading list was significant and all three went directly to the bookstore after class. Dave enjoyed sitting in class with the twins; one sitting on each side of him. He found it somewhat challenging to focus entirely on the instructor when he had two sets of gorgeous legs rubbing and teasing his legs. That night, while Colby went to the library, Dave made soft tender love to both girls. He spent the rest of the night studying before he crawled into bed with a book for American Lit. Tuesday was a repeat of Monday and Dave went to computer science and economics classes in the morning. After eating lunch, he worked out at Miller Center before going to Reynolds Gymnasium to swim for an hour. He was tired but felt good when he returned to his room. Coach Dawes called a team meeting on Tuesday afternoon and he explained that the team would resume practices on Tuesday and Friday afternoons with a practice round on Saturday or Sunday as weather permitted. They would start that Friday. He spoke briefly about Alec's accident and how the rest of the team would have to step up to fill Alec's position. Dave was surprised when Coach Dawes put his hand on Dave's shoulder and said, "I am confident that Dave will continue to lead this team and all of you will have to follow his lead." Dave looked up at his coach questioningly and thought, "Did he just make me the team leader?" Dave looked around the room and every teammate was nodding approval and support except Keith who had his head bowed as if he had been slapped in the face. After the meeting, every golfer walked up to Dave and shook his hand and said, "Let's do it, Dave - a national title." Dave replied by nodding. He was particularly surprised when Keith shook his hand and said, "I'm one hundred percent behind you, Dave. I know we can win this year; lead the way." Dave was in shock as he walked back to the dorm with Darcy - Keith had actually accepted him as the leader. Dave didn't want to show his surprise to Darcy so he casually explained, "It's too cold to practice in the mornings. I've been up at dawn everyday for the last week and it's just not possible. It seems to warm up in the afternoon so I suggest we resume our daily practice sessions starting tomorrow at three o'clock." Darcy nodded as he replied, "Sounds good. Leanne is anxious to get back at it and so am I. I think she wants to ask you something at supper tonight." Dave looked at him questioningly so Darcy continued, "Don't tell her I told you but she has been getting requests from two of her teammates who want to join our practice group. One is a freshman and the other is a sophomore. They have seen her improvement and want to break onto the women's team, the way she has." Dave thanked Darcy for the heads-up then went to his room to study. He reviewed the material covered during his two morning classes then prepared for his classes the next day. He had Introduction to Western Music that night with Kyra and Jana, and he didn't have a clue what to expect. At suppertime he was eating with the twins when Darcy and Leanne joined them. Leanne looked nervous and Dave could tell she was trying to work up the courage to ask him something. She finally asked, "Dave, two of the girls on my team want to know if they can join your practice group. They have seen me improve and neither one has ever made the lineup for a tournament. Would you help them the way you've helped me?" Dave listened to Leanne carefully; he had thought about her question significantly since Darcy had mentioned it. He asked her, "How would you feel if they joined the group and then took your position on the team?" Leanne looked surprised by the question and Dave thought she was going to just blurt out an answer - but she didn't. She thought about it for several minutes and Dave watched the changes in her facial expressions. She seemed to be analyzing the question thoroughly. Dave was very impressed. She finally looked directly into Dave's eyes and smiled, "The team is most important. If it helps the team then that is what is best. But I plan to work very hard and I won't give up my position without a fight. If I do lose my position I will fight hard to get it back." Dave, pleased at her response, put on his best imitation of an evil grin and asked, "Okay, now, what do they look like? I only allow very pretty girls in my group." Leanne looked surprised; it took her a moment to realize he was only teasing her and she started to giggle. Jana and Kyra quickly started punching Dave from each side until he laughed outright and said, "Okay, okay - they are very welcome to join our group as long as Darcy approves as well." Darcy nodded agreement before Dave added, "And remember, it's our group not my group, okay?" After supper Dave and the twins went to music class. Dave was surprised that he enjoyed the class - he knew part of that was just being with the twins. As he lay in bed that night he thought about Coach Dawes making him the team leader and how Keith had supported him. He still didn't trust Keith but he thought he could at least tolerate him. Dave dozed off thinking about the twins. Classes went well on Wednesday and eventually Dave was loosening up with Darcy at the practice range. The afternoon was cool but a sweater was enough to take the chill off. Leanne walked up to Darcy and Dave with two girls at her side. One was very plain looking and fairly tall with straight black hair - Dave estimated that she was about five-eight. The other girl was slightly shorter and quite pretty with shoulder length wavy brown hair. Leanne introduced the taller girl first, "Dave and Darcy, this is Rachael Dixon; she is a freshman like us." Dave and Darcy each shook her hand before Leanne introduced the other girl, "This is Danielle Murphy, a sophomore." Dave and Darcy shook her hand as well. They all loosened up for several minutes before Dave suggested they start with short irons. They all agreed and started hitting balls. Dave had hit balls several times over the past week and he quickly fell into his old rhythm. When he felt good about his swing he took a break and watched Darcy hitting the ball. He complimented, "Great swing, Darcy - smooth back swing and nice tempo." He moved to Leanne and stopped her for a second to remind her about not over swinging. He whispered, "Smooth consistent swing. You can't hit it as far as Rachael and you probably never will - but consistency is the key." Leanne nodded so Dave moved to Rachael who was next along the tee. Rachael had a very long swing and Dave watched her hit for a few minutes. She turned and looked at him and asked, "I'm open to any suggestions." Dave suggested, "You are very tall and you have a long swing arc, but the most important part of iron play is consistency. You don't need extra length. I would suggest you shorten your swing just a little - you seem to be pulling your club back too far." Rachael nodded and shortened her swing slightly. Dave watched and complimented her on a more controlled swing before he moved to Danielle. She hit for several minutes before she asked him for suggestions. He adjusted her alignment slightly and talked to her about her starting motion. He suggested she cock her wrists a little more and a little earlier. He stood in front of her and showed her the motion he thought suited her. She thanked him and then returned to hitting balls using his tips. Dave went back to hitting balls and felt good about the new group but his mind kept wondering to the most important person who was missing from the group - Alec. They hit balls for ninety minutes and Dave was able to spend a little more time with each of them. Dave and Danielle picked up the balls while the other three cleaned the clubs. Danielle seemed to be very nice and Dave found out she was from Atlanta, Georgia. After practice, Dave found the twins and they went for supper. Shauna, Darcy, Leanne, Danielle, and Rachael joined them at the table and all the girls got along well. Darcy and Leanne asked if they could go visit Alec with Dave that evening and he said they could. They picked up Shauna and had a good evening visiting Alec. Alec explained that most of the team had stopped by to visit over the past two days. The doctors were still hoping he could get out on Friday and he was looking forward to going home. Patsy arrived shortly after Shauna, Dave, Darcy, and Leanne. Alec introduced her to Darcy and Leanne. Alec was feeling much better and he was able to move around his room. He explained that his arm seemed to be healing well and his hand was feeling better everyday. After a two-hour visit the three friends returned to the campus. Dave studied for a couple of hours before going to sleep. Classes on Thursday went well and Dave quickly fell into a routine of studying after lunch before going to the range to practice. The group was all there and, after loosening up, they worked on their drivers and fairway woods. Leanne and Darcy were both striking the ball well and Dave told them to keep working on solidifying their consistent swings. Rachael had a very long flowing swing and Dave spoke to her about it. He complimented her and told her that because she was tall like him she had a very long swing arc. That meant more distance but also meant more room for error. He talked to her about finding a comfortable long swing and then tweaking it so the ball flight was consistent. Rachael hit a low draw that sometimes turned into a big hook. Dave told her that her swing was very good and that consistency was the key. They talked about her back- swing and her swing thoughts. Rachael felt good about their discussion and promised to work on the few small points he suggested. Danielle had a very powerful swing with her driver. She drew the club back a long way and really drove with her hips through the ball. Dave asked her if she had any control issues and she explained that her driver was the best part of her game. He agreed and told her to keep doing what she was doing because it worked for her. On Friday morning Dave and Shauna drove to the hospital to see Alec. He was indeed scheduled to leave, and, after the doctors checked him over one last time, they signed off for him to check out. Alec was relieved and so was Patsy. Alec, Shauna, and Patsy drove home in Patsy's car and Dave followed in his. The rest of the morning was spent getting Alec settled in and Shauna explained that she was staying in the spare guestroom for the weekend. Dave ate lunch with them before he drove directly to the golf center. The remainder of January passed quickly. Dave spent most of his time studying and going to classes - but his golf group practiced outdoors almost every day the weather allowed. They had to use the indoor facilities several times but their commitment never wavered. Alec returned to classes a week after getting out of the hospital and he slowly got back into the routine of college. Shauna never left his side and made sure he didn't over-extend himself. Dave could see their love for each other grow even deeper and he was happy for them. Dave had also sent e-mails to Rebecca every week - he looked forward to her return messages. The last week of January both the men's and women's teams increased the number of weekly practices but the mornings were still too cold for Dave's group to practice. This reduced the group practices to just twice a week. The men's team had their qualifying round on January 30th for the first spring tournament that was scheduled for February 5th and sixth. The day was cool and Dave struggled with his putter but managed to shoot seventy. The team was set with Darcy, Will, and Keith retaining their spaces on the team while Carl took Alec's spot. Dave was a little nervous about the first tournament and he really wished Alec could have been going. Alec encouraged Dave to lead the team to another victory. Dave assured him he would do his best. The team flew to Florida early on Friday and they played a practice round before returning to the hotel. After supper Dave relaxed for a half hour before going to the pool for a swim. He couldn't get Alec out of his mind as he wondered whether Alec's hand would recover completely. He swam hard and was very tired when he returned to his room. He was sharing a room with Darcy and they talked about the course before they went to sleep. The team had to play two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday. Dave hit the ball really well in the morning but he putted poorly. He managed to shoot a one under par sixty-nine. Darcy played well and shot seventy while Will and Keith both shot seventy-one. Carl was a little higher at seventy-four. Wake Forest was in first place after the first round with the host Florida Gators close behind. Dave was three strokes behind the individual leader from Florida State. The afternoon round was a repeat of the morning for Dave. He hit the ball even better but his putter never came around. He managed to shoot two-under par sixty-eight but he could easily have been six or eight strokes better if he had putted well. Darcy struggled a little and shot seventy-three while Keith had a good round of sixty-eight. Will and Carl shot identical scores of seventy to give Wake Forest a nine stroke lead over Florida after two rounds. The team ate a large supper before relaxing in their rooms. Dave was too tired to swim and went to sleep early. Dave was convinced that his putter must have been bent because he couldn't make a putt again on Sunday. He hit the ball really well again and shot sixty-nine. Darcy also shot sixty-nine while Will shot seventy-one and Carl shot seventy- two. Keith finished with a seventy-three. The Florida team had a really good day and put a late charge on Wake Forest but the Demon Deacons managed to hold on to a two-stroke victory. Dave finished four under par and in second-place three strokes behind the Florida State player. Coach Dawes was very happy with the third straight team victory. He spoke to Dave after the presentations and tried to console Dave for his loss of the individual title. Dave smiled at him and said, "The team won - that's all that matters." Coach Dawes nodded and shook his hand. He wondered to himself how he had ever been stupid enough to question Dave's potential. The flight home passed quickly and Dave was relieved to be back in his bed again. He slept soundly and was awakened by a gentle tapping on the door. He got up and looked in Colby's bunk; Colby was already gone. He opened the door and was immediately pushed back into the room by stampeding twins. They pushed him onto the bed and kissed him to congratulate him. They then pulled off his boxers and gave him his real reward; Dave was always first-place in their world. Thirty-five minutes later they were cuddling naked on Dave's bed still trying to recover from their lovemaking. Dave was happily tired when he heard the door start to open and they barely had the covers pulled over their naked bodies when Colby strolled into the room. He froze in shock and stared at the three smiling faces peeking over the top of the blanket. He stammered that he needed to get his books then grabbed his backpack and darted out the door. Dave and the twins laughed as they got up and dressed. Dave poured a quick bowl of cereal and ate very quickly so he wouldn't be late for his first class. The twins waited for him and then they walked together until Dave had to go to the Calloway building while they went in the other direction. Dave received a multitude of congratulations on the victory and he thanked everyone for their support. At lunch Darcy was very excited and he told Dave about the similar reception he had received that morning. Alec was happy for them and he promised he would be back on the team soon. Shortly after all three team members were seated, the chorus of "DEMON DEACON GOLF" shook the room and Dave, Alec, and Darcy raised their glasses and repeated the cheer. The practice group got together twice that week and during the second practice Dave asked the three women if they would like to play a practice round on Saturday afternoon before their qualifying round on Sunday. They all eagerly agreed and Darcy generously bowed out. On Saturday, Dave spent time with each woman going through their swing thoughts and general strategy. Leanne had really improved her course management and Dave didn't spend much time with her. After the round he wished them luck the next day. He spent the evening with the twins - they went to a movie. That night the twins slept in Dave's room - Colby had gone home for the weekend. Dave practiced on Sunday before he spent some time with Alec, Shauna, and the twins. They were eating supper in the dining hall when Leanne, Darcy, Rachael, and Danielle entered the hall. The girls walked directly to Dave and each gave him a hug. Leanne explained that she qualified again and that Rachael had qualified for the first time. Danielle had played her best round since arriving at Wake Forest and her coach told her if she could repeat that round then she could play in the next tournament. She was a little disappointed not getting to go to Puerto Rico but was pleased with her improvement. Dave congratulated them all before they went and got their food. The week passed quickly and Alec was happy when Friday arrived because he was scheduled to have his cast removed. Dave practiced with the team then went for a swim in the late afternoon. He later drove the twins to Alec's house for supper and Dave was happy to see Alec had indeed had the cast removed. While his arm needed a lot of rehab, Alec was confident he would be able to be golfing in a month or so. Dave helped Patsy with supper and he and the twins did the dishes after everyone ate. Patsy was happy to have the house full of friends and they all watched a movie and relaxed. Dave noticed Patsy smiling at Shauna and Alec who were cuddling happily. Saturday was filled with more practice and on Sunday the team played a practice round. The weekend flew by and Dave studied all Sunday evening. On Monday afternoon Dave, Darcy, and Danielle got together for group practice before supper. Dave told Danielle that her swing was getting steadily more consistent and she said that she herself had noticed a big difference. After supper Dave was in his room studying when he heard a knock on the door. He opened it to the smiling face of Darcy who quickly informed him that the women's team was in fifth place. Both Leanne and Rachael played really well and Leanne was in fifteenth overall. He explained, "I wanted to start cheering and yelling because Leanne was really excited but I thought `What would Dave say?' and I told Leanne she did great but to stay focused, there was still two rounds to be played." Dave laughed to himself as he realized how much Darcy was maturing. Dave congratulated Darcy on his smart response and then told him to wish both women well if he spoke to them again. Mid-term exams were scheduled for the next week and Dave worked hard to prepare. He worked hard in class and studied hard at night. The music class had turned out to be his most enjoyable class and he looked forward to the long class every Tuesday evening. When he returned from music, Darcy was waiting for him and he told Dave that Leanne had another solid round and moved up to twelfth overall. Rachael didn't play quite as well but still had the fourth best round for the team. The team slipped to sixth place. On Wednesday at supper Darcy informed the table that Leanne had another solid round and finished tenth overall. The team finished fourth overall and that Rachael had the low round of seventy-two for the team. The whole table was happy for the women's team and Danielle seemed very pleased for her teammates. Dave whispered to her, "When you qualify for the next tournament in Georgia, Darcy, and I will drive down and watch all three of you play." That brought a huge smile to her face. As Dave was walking back to the dorm with the twins, Jana warned, "Dave, that was very sweet what you said to Danielle but you have to watch out how you treat her." Dave looked at Jana questioningly so she continued, "You don't see it, do you?" Dave was getting annoyed, "What are you talking about?" Jana simply shook her head and Kyra giggled, "All three of those girls idolize you. Leanne has Darcy to keep her happy and Rachael seems really intent on her golf career but Danielle is falling very hard for you. She watches everything you do and when you aren't at the table, she talks about you non-stop. We have grown to like her a lot and we just don't want to see her get hurt, so please be careful." Dave was surprised by Jana's words but he promised to be very careful. He kissed the girls goodbye then spent the evening studying. At lunch on Thursday both Leanne and Rachael walked directly to Dave and hugged him before they thanked him for all his help. He told them that it was their own hard work and that he was simply pleased to be able to help. They told him the qualifying round for the Georgia tournament was that Sunday and he suggested another practice round on Saturday. Dave studied hard Thursday night and was feeling confident about his exams that started on Monday. Friday and Saturday morning were filled with team practice and Dave was excited about going to the course with the three girls on Saturday afternoon. Leanne had really come into her own; even Dave was surprised by the confidence she displayed. He spent most of the day with Rachael and Danielle and he watched Danielle carefully. Now that he knew what to look for, he could see her gravitating to him, and he was very careful to not lead her on, beyond golf improvement. All three felt very confident when Dave dropped them off. He then picked up the twins and they went to a movie. On Sunday Dave studied all day. In the evening he was sitting in the dining hall with Darcy, Alec, Shauna, and the twins when the three women returned from their qualifying round. It didn't take a genius to figure out that they had all qualified as they sprinted through the dining hall with Danielle in front; as Dave stood to greet them, Danielle launched herself into Dave's arms. He could feel her pointed nipples pushing into his chest as she mashed herself to him in a full-body hug - he had to think about something else to keep from getting a hard-on. They had indeed all qualified and Danielle was by far the most excited. She had knocked two more strokes off her low score of the previous week and shot even par. She asked if Dave and Darcy were going to go to their tournament as Dave had promised. Darcy was smiling from ear to ear and Dave explained he would have to get approval from Coach Dawes to miss practice but he suspected it would be approved. Dave listened as the women talked about their rounds and he looked at Jana and Kyra who were smiling sweetly at him. When he walked back to the residence with them, Kyra teased, "You better take lots of condoms to Georgia because Danielle is going to keep you, and especially one part of your body, really busy." Dave looked at her in shock, "I would never do that!" Jana hugged him, "Dave, we have told you before that we don't have any permanent ties between us. You can do whatever you please." He looked at them very seriously, "I realize what you have said, but I couldn't actually sleep with Danielle unless we broke up first. I am with her almost every day - that would not be fair to her or you." Kyra kissed him, "Dave, you really are a nice guy but we absolutely aren't the jealous type - live your life however you please. And don't pass up some fun because of us." He kissed both of them passionately, "I am living my life how I please." He leered at the twins from head to toe and added, "Believe me - life couldn't get any better." They both hugged him before they went their separate ways to study. When Dave finally crawled into bed, he thought about the twins and he gently stroked himself as he remembered the many nights they had already spent together. He fell asleep happily with images of brown legs and arms wrapped around him. For a brief moment, he did wonder what it would be like with Danielle, but the thought passed. <1st attachment end> ----- ASSM Moderation System Notice------ Notice: This post has been modified from its original format.
