Edited By Net Wolf. Colonnade I The Sheep in Wolf's Clothing Shawn sat at the head of the table listening to his board of directors rip his idea to shreds. Ten years ago, he had founded Northland Electronics Corporation; the company had grown far faster than anyone expected. His company designed computers and computer control systems. He had been born to a poor family, and had grown to maturity not thirty miles from where he now sat. ~ ~ ~ ~ The area had been a depressed one. No real industry to speak of, unless you counted logging, and Shawn didn't. His father had been an independent logger using his own equipment and contracts to sell wood to the corporate mills in the area. His father had literally worked himself to death years before. The only thing of value his parents had owned was the love they shared and half a mortgage on their house. He firmly believed his mother died of a broken heart; less than six months after he buried his father, his mother was laid to rest beside him. Cyrus Johnson, the man that had given his parents the mortgage, stopped by to visit him a couple days after the funeral. "Shawn, I'm really sorry to disturb you so soon after the funeral, but your mother wanted me to stop by if this happened. She wanted me to give you this letter." "Thank you, Mr. Johnson. I actually expected to hear from you sooner or later. I'll start looking for a job as soon as I get things organized, I might be late on the next payment, though" Shawn answered. "Son, I think you should read the letter first. I'll wait in case you have any questions, and you can call me Cy." The ever-present Selene poured Cy a cup of coffee and handed it to him as he sat at the kitchen table with Shawn. Selene had lived with Shawn's family for as long as he could remember. He remembered also the rumors that had flown when the young couple first moved to the small town. A newlywed young couple and a pretty blonde woman all living together was a great feed for the gossip mill. However, it became clear that the very quiet Selene was only a very close family friend. The new couple had a bedroom on the second floor of the house, next to the room that would become Shawn's. Selene's room was on the ground floor in the back of the house. Though her face was marred by grief; Cy noticed that she looked much younger today than her forty-five years. She really was a beautiful woman. More than one single man in the town had tried to get her attention. Many had even asked her out. She gave them all a sad smile and politely refused. That started the rumors again, but like all rumors that are baseless, they, too, finally died away. Cy pushed those thoughts out of his head; he needed to concentrate. He knew Shawn would have questions. Cy also had an emergency town council meeting later that day. It seemed wolves had attacked and killed some of old man Andersen's cattle. The state Department of Natural Resources would be there to tell them that the animals couldn't be killed, of course, but what about the town's children? 'The boy, focus on the boy for now, deal with the rest later,' Cy told himself. Shawn finished the letter, and looked up at Cy. "They never told me." Cy nodded. "The house and all of you father's equipment is paid for. Even if you hadn't won that scholarship, you could still afford any college in the country. I tried to tell them a policy that large was overkill, but they insisted." "How much do I have?" "Roughly three quarters of a million. If you manage it well, that should see you through the rest of your education. Here is a checking account debit card. I took the liberty of having one made for you. I had Janice activate it this morning." "Thank you for bringing me this, Mr. Johnson. It does relieve my mind. I'm still in a bit of shock over this, though. Would it be okay if I called you later with any questions?" Shawn asked. "Sure, but I have a meeting this afternoon, I have no idea how long that will last. If you leave a message, I'll call you back, though," Cy said, rising from the table. "Thanks again, Cy." Selene began to get up, too, to show him out. "No, Selene, it's okay, I can show myself out." Shawn waited to hear the door close. He was looking at Selene. "So, how about I take you out to dinner tonight, Selene?" She smiled at him softly. She reached out, caressed his hair and nodded. "But first, I want you to tell me just who the hell you really are." ~ ~ ~ ~ Shawn glanced out the window at Tera. Quietly waiting, quietly watching him. She smiled softly as his eyes met hers. Just before she lowered her eyes, as she always did, he winked at her. The pretty redhead beamed a smile at him and lowered her eyes. Listening to the third prophecy of impending failure for his proposal, Shawn was getting tired of people telling him this wouldn't work. In the folder in front of him were the signed documents confirming the acquisition of two other companies: Axton Pharmaceuticals, and Grover Industries. He had purchased both with his own money, using his controlling interest in Northland as collateral. Neither of the two new companies had anything to do with the electronics industry. He expected a round or two of very loud objections when he let them know about the two new companies. Fuck them, he thought, it's my money, and it's my business. If they have a problem with it, fine, they can find another fucking job. Shawn had a very different management technique. His office was in with engineers, and most times his door stood open so he could listen to them. He considered every one of them friends, and he wanted them to feel the same way about him. He never once laughed at anyone's ideas, no matter how farfetched or outlandish. He discouraged everybody else from doing it, too. He gave his engineers far greater freedom than most firms. He believed in his people, and his people had made the company a success. The last person sat down, but before another could stand to voice their objections, Shawn stood. "Okay. I've listened to you guys tell me how crazy this idea is. I agree it is crazy. But you want to know something? It doesn't matter. I know and trust every one of you to help me guide this company. I've always done what I thought was right in the end. I know this is right. The only ones to benefit from not doing this are those of us in this room. As it stands now, we could all be filthy rich in less than a few years. "I have nothing against being filthy rich, but I do have a problem with it being at the expense of someone else's hard work. Think about this, and be very honest with yourselves - who in this company has worked their asses off to make it what it is today? If you can isolate one individual or group, I would be very surprised. Everyone, from the assemblers to the designers to research, is the reason this company works. It's time they started getting paid for it. I once asked you to trust me. I promised to make you a part of something that you could be proud of. Don't get greedy on me yet; you'll soon be making more money than you can spend. I want this policy implemented as of today." He paused, looking around the table. No one seemed to be too surprised, though a couple were definitely not happy. "If you really feel this is wrong, or unfair, I really am sorry, but there is no place for you in this company. I would prefer you resign rather than continue doing something you don't believe in. Trust me, it will balance out for you. However, if you don't trust me, or for some reason don't believe me, please leave now." Mary Rogers, vice-president of marketing, pushed her chair back and stood up to leave. Her attitude of despair was at odds with the majority of the table. Shawn was pretty sure he knew why, and it angered him more than he cared to admit. Mary was very good at her job and was a really nice person. Shawn would be very sorry to see her go. He got an idea, and glancing at the clock, saw that he had an opportunity to implement it right now. "Mary, wait a second, please." He turned to the group. "Let's break for lunch, and meet back here in say... an hour and a half. I have one more surprise for you folks today, but I promise, this one you'll like." As the meeting broke up, Shawn walked over to Mary. "Let Tera and me take you to lunch today; you can resign over shrimp scampi." He smiled at her. She gave a small, sad smile, let her head fall forward, then nodded. He took her arm and guided her out of the meeting room. ~ ~ ~ ~ "You know who I am, Shawn." Selene told him. "Selene, you've been like a second mother to me. Mom and Dad both loved you, but it still seems deeper than the family friend thing I've always been told. Something is different about you. Were you and Dad lovers?" Shawn asked. He had grown to accept this as fact over the years, so the question really sounded like asking for a confirmation. "Shawn Freeman! How can you think such a thing! I'll have you know I haven't been with a man in twenty years!" Selene said to him sharply, her Irish heritage showing through her normally calm facade. "I can think such a thing because I've lived here for the last seventeen years and I honestly don't know! You say you haven't been with a man in twenty years, fine, I believe you. But something was going on between the three of you and I want to know what it was!" his anger cooled rapidly. He was looking into the beautiful green eyes of the young woman... Hold it: YOUNG?? Shawn was taken aback at the realization he wasn't talking to the same person he thought he knew. She was still the same person; you could see it in her features, but she looked much younger than the forty-five years she claimed. Currently, she looked no older than twenty-five. The laugh lines at the edges of her eyes had smoothed, the slightly lighter streaks in her normally blonde hair had disappeared. In fact, her hair looked darker, almost strawberry blonde. He reached to gently touch her cheek, and stroke her hair, the question in his eyes. "How...? " She closed her eyes as his hand touched her, and she tilted her head into his touch as a lover would. She sighed. "Sometimes, Shawn, things are not what they seem. It is a long tale, and not one I wish to share with you in its entirety tonight, for I still have a task to finish. I love you, Shawn. I have since the day you were born. As I was once bound to your mother, I am now bound to you. My new name is Tera. By this evening, I will look to be no older than twenty. I think it would be best if we took a drive later, and you can tell people that Selene returned to Ireland, and that I, Tera, her niece, came here to go to college with you." Shawn was stunned. He couldn't form words, and so his mouth moved like a fish out of water. She got up, walked around the table, and set herself in his lap. She closed his mouth with her hand and placed a gentle kiss on his lips. "Relax, love. There is magic afoot and it will be all right. Please just trust me and believe in me about this. I love you and would never let harm come to you. I will tell you the whole story, but not all at once. You will have questions you'll need answers to along the way." "Magic? Uh, what?" He was still having a hard time understanding what she was saying to him. "Let's go for that ride, love. Then you can take me out for dinner," she said. He nodded mutely and she got off his lap, took his hand and led him out to the car. ~ ~ ~ ~ Tera ordered a steak - rare, like normal. Mary got the shrimp scampi, but Shawn ordered lobster. Mary had been nervous all the way to the restaurant. Shawn suspected that she didn't really want to quit her job, and she was being pressured into it. "Mary, I have a feeling you really don't want to do this. It may be none of my business, but I consider you a friend, too, and it's hard to see a friend hurting. So I'm sticking my nose in here. What's going on?" She looked about to burst into tears, and one actually slid down her cheek. "It's... It's Bill. He demands I tell you that I should be making $300,000 a year. I tried to tell him, but he didn't listen to me." She raised a hand to the side of her face, her eyes glazed with a remembered fear. "He told me I should be quiet and do what I was told." She shuddered, and could no longer contain her tears. Shawn called for the check. He settled the bill while Tera took Mary back out to the car. Once they were safely out of the public eye, Shawn turned to her once again. "Mary, I can help you, but I need to know the whole story. I can stop him, but I need to know what I'm up against." "Shawn, no. This is way too big. They'll kill you if they even think I've spoken to you about it. You have no idea what's really going on. I know they'll most likely kill me anyway for losing this job. You see, I've been stealing from you. I've been embezzling money from you for the last three years. They've been making me do it, and I just can't do it anymore." Tera sat quietly listening to the woman, but Shawn could see her jaw clench in anger, and a fire burned brightly in her eyes. He knew she would be hunting that night. The moon was too close to full for her to control her anger. Shawn just hoped he could get Mary and her daughter out of the way before it happened. "Mary, you've said 'they' three times now. I have some resources you don't know about. I'll be safe, no need to worry about me. But I can help you. In fact, now I think I have to. Please tell me everything you know." She nodded, "I'm dead, anyway. I just hope they won't think I've told you. Bill is a member of a group that abducts children. Mostly runaways, I think, but some I don't think are. They give them drugs, and then..." She started sobbing, but fought for control so she could finish her tale. " ...they rape them over and over again. The whole house is wired for video and they make films that they sell. I'm not sure who buys them, but they have had requests. They killed one little girl... at least only the one that I know of. I don't know what happens to the children once they have been used up. Once, I tried to help a child, I was beat and dragged into my bedroom. They told me that if I tried to interfere again, they would kill me. Jenny is tied to the bed in our room; she has enough chain to get to the bathroom, but she isn't allowed clothes. Bill takes her every night, then beats me before going to sleep. She isn't allowed on the bed. Sometimes he makes me suck his spend out of her, whichever hole he came in. I'm not allowed to quit until she orgasms. He makes me lick my own daughter!" She couldn't hold out anymore, and collapsed into tears, curling up into a fetal position on the seat. The last thing she said was, "Shawn, the police are in on this, at least half the force. If one of the kids escapes they catch them and bring them back." Shawn glanced at Tera to see her breathing deeply through her nose. Her fingers wrapped tightly about the steering wheel. He could see that her hands had started to grow more hair, and the steering wheel was bent. He grabbed her arm and her head snapped toward him to look him directly in the eye. Her anger was raging. Shawn noticed look in her eyes. "Control Luna! Now is not the time!" he hissed. She nodded, and Shawn watched as she forcibly calmed herself. She still had thick hair on her hands, though. "Let's head for our place, Amber can take care of Mary while we make arrangements to fix this." Tera nodded and turned the car; Shawn pulled out his cell phone and called Amber. He knew he would be waking her, but she would want to be ready before they got there. Then he called the office to postpone the rest of his day. The last call he made was to a college buddy in the FBI. ~ ~ ~ ~ "Sele.. er, Tera, I feel like I am sinking quickly in very deep water. Magic doesn't exist in this world. I've always felt that technology killed it," Shawn said. "In a way, you're right, but not quite," She answered. "Magic has always been there; it gets its strength from those that believe in it. Technology didn't kill magic, it caused those who believed to doubt. At that point, magic was lost to most of the world." "That doesn't make a lot of sense. First of all there are people out there that do believe in magic. I've read about them. If magic really worked it seems to me everyone would know about it. Of course the Christians would have a blast burning people at the stake," He said. "Love, you know better than that. Your mother taught you better than that, though your father wasn't happy about it. Yes, true practitioners would be ostracized by today's society. In fact, they are. Small covens are surrounded by enough disbelief and ridicule that the magic has a hard time working. Then, too, some 'witches' don't really know what they're doing, and the magic won't work for them because of the confusion in their soul. We could have a long theological discussion about this, but it isn't helping with our present situation. Please just accept the fact that magic does exist, and it works. You've already seen the proof of that." She said. "You're right. Regardless of what I may have believed, or thought I did, magic is real; it does exist. So what does that have to do with you?" He asked. She took a deep breath and gathered her thoughts. "That is a tale, to be sure. Perhaps we can get some lunch and pull over somewhere while I tell it." He nodded, and turned into the next Burger King drive-through. They had mostly finished the food before she spoke again. Shawn suddenly realized this was the most he had ever heard her speak in one day. "Many years ago, in Ireland, two young women had fallen deeply in love. They were members of the same coven, and had grown up together. One was the coven priestess, and though still young, held great power that she used to help whomever she could. The village that they lived in accepted the coven and blessed the two young lovers, which was a rare thing in those times. Then one night a drifter passed through the village. He was evil, and the witches tried to protect the village from him. The priestess' love fell before the evil man; not to be killed, but cursed forever." As she paused, Shawn realized her Irish accent was getting stronger. Her hair was almost completely red now, and she still looked to be in her mid-twenties, though she was still changing. "The Priestess and her coven prayed over her love for the better part of two days. Finally Brighid appeared before the coven, and spoke to the two lovers. 'I cannot undo this my child. However, I can give the power to control it as well as a few other things to make your new destinies easier.' The Goddess walked over to the stricken lass and placed her hand on her head. 'My child, you are cursed to stay in this world for many years to come. I give to you the power to control this curse, and charge you with hunting down that evil which has befallen you. I think you will find, though, there is more evil in the world than just that, and this I will help you with. Though I have removed the power to pass on this curse; be warned! You must never kill a mortal human or the curse will consume you. You will live lifetimes past all you know, so I give you the ability to remake yourself once a generation. You will know how when the time comes, but until then, you will appear to age normally.' She then turned to include the priestess, who was kneeling beside her lover. 'Your love for each other has granted this to be done. In order to remain so, I bind this child to your line, and charge you and your descendents to care for her until her task is complete. Once her task is done or she is killed, the curse will be broken and she will finish the balance of her life. I know you wish to remain together until the end, but that, too, is not possible.' She told her priestess then that she must lay with a man and become with child to ensure that there would be someone to carry on. Then the Goddess left them." Tera had tears running down her cheeks as she turned to Shawn. "That was 900 years ago, and I still miss Clarissa. Later that night I dreamt about the things The Goddess gave to me. I can never have a child of my own. The curse wouldn't let me carry the child more than a month, anyway." ~ ~ ~ ~ Special agent John Palmer told Shawn not to go anywhere near the house, and that he would have agents there the next day. "John, this can't wait, lives are at stake. The local law enforcement is involved, and I don't know who else. This is really big, I don't trust anyone else. Unless you can get here in the next few hours, all you'll have to do is pick up bodies," Shawn said. "Shawn, don't. I'll have to arrest you if you do. Do you really want to spend a really bad night in a chair for these creeps?" "Don't worry, John. You won't need to arrest anyone but the bad guys, but I would be getting on a plane in the next hour if I were you, and bring lots of friends." "Okay Shawn, just don't do anything stupid. I'll get there as fast as I can. Okay to call you on this phone?" He asked "Yeah, so get with it already," Shawn said. "Okay. Later." Click. Shawn finished his calls just as they pulled up in front of their house. Shawn got out and helped Mary into the house. Amber was standing back from the door waiting for them. She led the group into the living room of the large house. "I've got some tea brewing if you would like a cup?" Amber asked the distraught woman. She looked up at Amber and finally realized they hadn't gone back to the office. "Y-yes, th-thank you," She replied. "Shawn where are we?" "We're at my house. This is a very close friend of mine; Amber Stras this is Mary Aleck. Mary, this is Amber," He said. "Uh, what are we doing here? I thought we were going back to the office," She said. "Nope. We're solving your problem. I want you to call home, and tell Bill that You got the raise, but will be working late on a special project. If he asks, tell him I bought three new companies, but I haven't told you who yet," Shawn told her. "That'll give us the evening, but Jenny and the children are still in danger. I know he'll call my office to check on me." "I've taken care of that. Beth has already forwarded your phones to hers. She'll answer for you, and if it's him, she'll tell him you are in the file room, and that she'll transfer you. Then she transfers him to my cell phone; which you'll answer as 'File room'. Any questions?" He asked. "What are you going to do to them? Chances are that only a few will be there tonight, and the local police will protect them," Mary said. "I have a friend in the FBI that is on a plane right now and should be here by this evening. I plan on going in and getting your daughter and the kids out of there before bullets start flying. Make the call, Mary, then I think you should get some rest; it's going to be a long night," Shawn told her. Amber had returned with the tea, and was sitting next to Tera on the loveseat. Shawn was still standing. They listened to Mary make her call, then Amber moved next to her on the couch. After Mary hung up, Amber took her hand, looked her directly in the eyes and started talking to her softly. Shawn felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up and watched Mary slowly slump over asleep. He loved Amber, but sometimes she still freaked him out. "Okay, she'll sleep for an hour or two. Now will one of you please tell me what the hell is going on?" Amber said. Shawn quickly told her what was happening at Mary's house, and who was involved. "I never did like that slimy rat bastard chief of police. He is always harassing the kids, like he has nothing better to do. I guess this explains why. I assume you want to go in, kill them, and then bring the kids back here?" She asked. "Well, that is the desire yes, but at best that approach is problematic. I do know it would draw unwanted attention to us. We are going to be drawing some attention, but I think it will look more like I am simply helping a friend in the FBI. I think he'll help with that approach. No, what I want to do is go in, and get the children to safety before the shooting starts." "Very noble, Mr. Hero. How many kids are we talking about?" Amber asked. "Uh, I don't know," Shawn admitted. "Okay, How many men? How many guards? And what kind of security system?" She asked. "Again, I don't know, but we need to do this tonight! We have to get those children out of there now!" Shawn said vehemently. "I agree, but we need more information. I suggest we get some." Amber turned to Tera. "I don't think a large 'dog' would be noticed very much, but remember, you have to control Luna! If she kills even one of these men..." "I know! I know! But dammit! I don't think this is what Brighid had in mind!" Tera almost yelled. "Tera, this is exactly what she had in mind," Shawn said. "Can you do this?" ~ ~ ~ ~ "I have only a couple more questions. However, you mentioned earlier that you would need to go clothes shopping. Since we are in Duluth, would you like me to head for the mall? We might as well have dinner here as well," Shawn asked. "That's a grand idea, though I currently don't have access to my money. I am supposed to be getting a credit card like yours, but it hasn't arrived yet," She said. Shawn smirked at her, "I think I can afford to buy you some clothes. Besides, you'll need more than just clothes won't you? If you just came in on a plane, you would have luggage, wouldn't you?" "Yes I would. Isn't this also the place where we will be going to college?" Tera asked. "Sort of, it's across the river, in Superior. When I got the scholarship I chose a school close to home so I could visit. It's a bit late to pick another school. I suppose since we're here, we should try to find a place to live and I know it sounds like an impulse, but I want to trade this car in. I already know what I want, so it shouldn't take very long. We may end up spending the night here," Shawn explained. Tera looked a bit worried and bit her lower lip. "There might be a wee bit of a problem with that, my love. I haven't finished telling you everything. You see I'll be needing to go out tonight, and 'tis best if I do it in the country." "Go out? What do you mean?" Then the light seemed to come on for the young man. "The curse." "Yes, the curse. I was bitten by a werewolf 900 years ago. Since that time, I haven't killed a human, nor have I even harmed any very much. However this transformation I am going through requires fresh meat to work I need to be able to go out and hunt again tonight to complete it." Shawn had a moment of fear, but then realized what she had said, and what she hadn't. She had lived with his family all his life, and hadn't harmed any of them. She also said she hadn't harmed a human. "Um, How do you know you've never harmed anyone? I thought a werewolf was only barely aware of... I mean, I thought they had no awareness after they change?" He asked. Tera was surprised he didn't outright balk at the thought that werewolves were real. "Brighid gave me the ability to control it, remember? I am as aware during that as I am now, though it's like two people in my mind. I have stronger senses but even more so when I am hunting. I must say, you are taking this a lot better than I thought you would." "Well, it's not much a leap from believing in magic to this. I also know, if you haven't hurt me or my folks in all these years, you're not going to start now. One thing I am beginning to wonder though; if you are a werewolf, and I'm not doubting you are. What other things exist that I thought were myth and legend?" He asked, as he turned into a car dealership. "Lots of other werewolves, vampires, demons, evil witches, and just about everything you have ever heard a tale about. It's all real, even fairies, though the fair folk have stayed in Ireland for the most part. I do see them from time to time here," She answered. "We will have some interesting talks, Tera." It was getting easier to call her that. She didn't really look like Selene much any more. He pulled into a parking spot and shut the car off. "One last thing; you keep calling me, 'love'. Is that an Irish thing? Because it sure doesn't sound like it." "No, it's not. Shawn, you will find this a bit difficult to believe. I've known, since the day you were born, that I would be bound to you. I fell in love with you many years ago. Watching you grow into a man has given me back the desire to lay with a man again. I've found myself sitting in my room jealous of the girls that you went out with. Now I could be with you, but I'm afraid of it," She admitted. "Why are you afraid of it? I admit, to me it will feel like incest. Though you don't look like Selene anymore, I still think of you that way, and you were just like a mother to me. Is it because of that?" "No, it's not that. I'm afraid if I give you my virginity, I'll not be wantin' to share you with another. You must marry another woman and have a child or I will be left alone," She said, sadly. "Do I have to marry her? Man, you really are an old-fashioned girl!" He grinned as he opened the car door. She still looked troubled as she got out, "We'll have to talk about it some more." He walked around the car and took her hand. Her face lit up and she smiled at him as he led her into the dealership. ~ ~ ~ ~ "I wish I could go with her," Amber said. She watched Shawn hold the back door open for Luna. "I know you do, love. I do, too, but the sun is still shining, and we'd be noticed, anyway," Shawn replied to her. "True, but I still worry about her, even though I know she can take care of herself. My heart may not beat anymore, but I can still love," She said as a tear of blood passed down a very pale cheek. "You are still having problems with that aren't you?" Shawn asked. "Sometimes. If I am supposed to be such an evil creature, how come I can still love so deeply?" "Personally I think it's because you didn't lose your soul, but I'm no expert on this." He took her in his arms, and held her. "I hope you know we love you back just as much." "I know. If there is one thing I am absolutely sure of it's your love for Tera and me." "We are really going to need to watch over her tonight. I know this whole issue with the children has really gotten to her. We could lose her tonight," Shawn said. "I know. I'll use every trick I learned for controlling her kind, but it will still be a hard thing, every instinct she has is telling her to kill them. I felt that before she left," Amber said. "Will she be okay doing this recon? I mean she might get close enough to these assholes to let her instincts take over." "I think so, tonight might be different, but I believe she has enough control of Luna right now, since it is still daylight. She should be okay until tonight. We should get back to our guest; she may wake at any minute." ~ ~ ~ ~ "I like this," Tera said, as she slid over to the center of the seat next to Shawn. "Well, I'm glad I got the truck, I had no idea you were going to get that many clothes!" He teased. "Well, I did tell you I needed a whole new wardrobe. Besides, since you added the topper at least we didn't fill up the area behind the seat!" She said playfully. "Okay, what do you have running through that devious mind of yours?" Shawn asked. "Well, since this is a club cab, you can drive me out to the country, and I can crawl in back, strip, and let the change happen. You can let me out near a herd of cattle or if we see a deer or two. Then I can jump back in here and sleep the meal off. I can't change back until I do, but it shouldn't take very long. Then I can get dressed and we can go to bed in the hotel. I'll be really sleepy the rest of the night, sorry, love," She told him. "Okay, I don't know if I feel comfortable with this, but I guess this is the best way to find out, huh?" He asked nervously. "I love you. I'll still know it's you after I change, in fact you will still be able to talk to me, though I can't answer you. If we can find a stream or something for me to wash off in after, it would be best." "Uh, I thought you were still having doubts about having sex with me? Why are you apologizing about being sleepy?" He asked. "Shawn, you're not so young that you think there is only one way to have sex. Though in this smaller body, we may have to go very slow the first few times," She said. He might not have been so young, but he had never actually done something like that. In fact he had only had sex twice. Though it had felt really good, Shawn hadn't understood why all the other guys were always talking about it. "Uh, well about dinner tonight, where would you like to eat?" He asked. "To tell you the truth, love, I don't think I should. I'm a-feelin' the urge to hunt already. So, would it be okay if you got some take out and we go? The sun will be down soon, and the urge will be full upon me then." "Sure, but I want to grab a couple of things first. It won't take long," He answered her. He stopped at a K-Mart store and was back out quickly with a blanket and some towels. He spread the soft blanket on the floor behind the seat, and stuffed the towels into one of the fold out seats, She beamed a smile at him for being so thoughtful. He hit another drive thru and the smell of the meat had Tera's mouth watering. He crossed the Blatnik bridge and drove through Superior, heading south out of town toward a state park. As soon as she realized he was heading out of town, she climbed over the seat, and began taking her clothes off. He got a nice view of her firm C cup breasts and almost drove off the road. He ignored her and continued to drive. She chuckled at him. She leaned over the seat after making sure no one was coming, and kissed him on the cheek. "Remember Shawn, I love you." He nodded, but kept his eyes forward. He heard her moaning behind him, and soon those moans dropped in pitch. Soon they were growls. He felt her move behind him, and he knew she had sat up; he steeled himself to look in the rear view mirror. He had tried to prepare himself for what he thought he would see, but it wasn't enough. His brain told him that he would see a wolf looking back at him. Nothing his brain could conjure would have warned him about the green glowing eyes that looked back at him. He almost wet himself right there. He ignored the feelings of fear that threatened to overwhelm him. He finished the drive to the park, found a small trail just past the park boundaries, and pulled in. after a few hundred feet, he stopped the truck, and got out. He held the seat forward as the huge wolf climbed out of the truck. She was much bigger than Shawn had guessed. This animal had to weigh more than Tera. His mind locked onto that; this is Tera, she loves you, and she would never harm you. "You could have warned me about the eyes, you know," He said. She sat and watched him. She tilted her head, and whined in apology. "I think you should be able to find a couple of deer in here, and there is water close by." He said. She sat back and winked at him. Her green glowing eyes were not so menacing anymore. She stood and walked a few feet in front of the truck and sniffed the air. She hung her head, and shook it slowly from side to side, then dropped to the ground and rolled all about, it was almost comical to watch; a very large wolf rolling around on the ground like a pup. She stood again, and sniffed the air. She turned a little, and looked back at Shawn, and nodded. He waved to her, and she took off; faster than anything Shawn had ever seen move on its own. He shook his head and got back into the truck. He was getting hungry himself. ~ ~ ~ ~ "Wow, I must have really been sleepy! I had the weirdest dreams though. Tera changed into a wolf, and Amber was drinking a glass filled with blood. The whole time I was lying here, and I never felt the least bit threatened. Uh, where is Tera?" Mary asked. "She's gone to scout out your house," Shawn said calmly. "WHAT?" Mary screamed. "They'll catch her! You have no idea what they will do to her! They caught someone snooping around once! I heard them screaming all night long!" "Mary, relax. She won't get caught. They won't even know she is there; she's had special training for this sort of thing. Do you really think I would have let her go if I thought for a minute that she was in any danger?" Shawn assured her. "Now can you tell us anything about the security system or the lay-out of the house?" "Yeah, I can draw a map of the inside of the house, but as far as the security system goes, all I know is it's state of the art, and very expensive." Amber handed her a notebook, and a pencil. As Mary started to draw, Amber sat down across from her. "Mary, you said the dream was weird? I would think it would have been terrifying. I mean, a werewolf and a... vampire? I think that would scare most people," Amber asked. "Well, normally I suppose it would, but like I said, it was weird, it was like I knew instinctively that neither of you would hurt me. Dreams are funny sometimes," She said, looking Amber right in the eye. "You're not able to be hypnotized are you?" Amber asked. "No, though I could feel a strong compulsion to follow your orders. So I played along to see what was going on. I was wondering why I had such a strong compulsion to trust you. I know no one in this house would harm me. Don't ask me why but I do," She answered. "You're right; none of us will harm you. The only human blood I've ever drank was by my old masters' hand, and then from a glass. Luna has never harmed a human," Amber explained. "Please don't tell anyone our secret, they wouldn't understand. We would be hunted down and killed." "Don't worry, I won't. But I think you should know, Jenny will know about you. She ... sees things sometimes. Maybe it's from being beaten so much, but it didn't start until after... after Bill moved in," Mary said. "Any idea how many children there are in the house?" Shawn asked. "No, not exactly. About ten I think. I'm not allowed near them anymore," She turned back to her drawing. "They are generally kept in the basement until someone brings one or two upstairs." Amber got up, "I'll be right back, I want my laptop." Mary chuckled as she drew. "A techno-vamp. You're in love with them both, aren't you?" She said glancing up at Shawn. "More than life itself. You should know they are in love with each other, too. It's a strange thing; a vampire and a werewolf in love. PMS around here is a real bitch," He said. She looked up at him a moment, then burst into a laugh. "I bet!" Amber walked in at that moment, and noticed Mary's grin. "What's so funny?" she asked, one elegant eyebrow arched. "He told me PMS around here is a bitch!" Mary chuckled. "Well it does get pretty 'hairy' around here," Amber said with a straight face. Mary's chuckles turned into a full laughing fit as she looked at Amber, who smiled herself. The afternoon progressed with small talk and details of the inside of the house. A couple of hours later, Shawn excused himself as a bark sounded at the rear door. A few minutes later Shawn and Tera walked back into the room. Tera was wearing a robe. "Tera tells me that she was followed back here. If someone knocks, I would like you to answer the door, please," Shawn said to Amber, who nodded with a small smile on her face. "My pleasure," She purred. Shawn chuckled, knowing that if 'the someone' who knocked was rude, she would 'correct' him. "Just... don't kill them." "Why not? They certainly deserve it," She said. "I think a more creative punishment for them can be arranged," Shawn explained. "I am told known child molesters really don't last long in prison, and what time they do last is not a good experience." Everyone got a glint in their eye at his words. Child molesters are not a very welcome addition to a prison community. "Even if they manage to... survive... the new living arrangements, I am sure we can make even better arrangements for them," Shawn said. His cell phone began to ring. He looked at the caller ID and saw it was the office. He handed the phone to Mary, who answered it. "File Room," She paused during which time a man's voice could be heard. "I need to find documentation supporting a discrepancy in the records." Pause. "Yes, it's what we have been doing. So, yes they know, just not who." Pause. "Yes, I'm alone, and can cover this." Pause. "You want it to point to who?" Pause. "Okay, it may take a bit more work, but I think I can do that." Pause. "I can stay in here all night if I need to." Pause. "Ummm, with those changes, maybe three or four more hours. I'll have to actually create some of the paperwork." Pause. "Okay, I'll fix it before I come home." Pause. "Uh, Yes, master. Thank you, master." She waited a minute more and pressed her finger to her lips to indicate silence. Then finally hit the end button. "He always stays on the phone for a few seconds; trying to see if I hang up on him. He may have been listening for others in the room, too. He told me he wants me to create a paper trail that leads to Tera. He thought that would be really funny." "Well, his days of giving orders are over," Shawn said as the doorbell rang. Amber smiled and rose to go answer it. Shawn followed; hiding near the door so he could overhear the conversation. "Can I help you?" Amber said after opening the door. "Yeah, I lost my dog, and I was wondering if you may have seen it?" The man asked. Shawn stole a glance around the corner to look at the man. It wasn't Mary's boyfriend, this guy was overweight and balding. He was panting like he had been running, but was openly staring at Amber's body. She was smaller than him, very trim and almost skinny. She had a very nice-looking body. Shawn knew she was a size 4 as he'd had to go shopping for her. She was wearing a tight t-shirt with no bra, and semi tight jeans. The arrogant way he was checking her out, though, was not the way to get her to be nice. The last thing this stupid oaf wanted to do was piss her off, but he had no way of knowing that. "On second thought, to hell with the damn dog. I'll take you back to the house instead," He said as he reached for her arm. Peeking around the corner again, Shawn was in time to see the man blasted backward off the steps. It occurred to Shawn that he didn't even see Amber move, only flinch a little. "I don't think so," She said calmly. "Now I can see why your dog ran away." She averted her eyes as headlights washed over her. Two vehicles were pulling into the drive. She turned and walked past Shawn, "I think your friends are here," She said. She gave him a kiss on the cheek, and walked back to the living room, leaving the door open. Shawn walked out on the front step, and watched as John and several other men and women climbed out of two Chevy Suburbans. Two agents walked over to the man lying unconscious on the ground. John Paxton and the rest of his crew walked up to Shawn. "What's the story with this guy?" John asked as a way of greeting, and nodding his head in the direction of the man. "He followed Tera back from doing a recon. He's one of the guests of honor for tonight's party. For some reason, though, he thought he was following a dog," Shawn shrugged. John chuckled, "A dog, huh? I see Amber is still with you. How is everyone?" "We are good. It's been awhile, John. Let's go inside, I've coffee on and some information you might find useful," Shawn said. He led the procession of agents though his living room, to the large dining area. He said quietly to John, as they made their way to the dining room table, "Do you trust everyone?" Amber was already sitting at one end of the large table with her laptop, typing away at something. One of the smaller female agents was looking over her shoulder with her mouth hanging open. "With my life. I've worked with everyone here. They are good agents," John answered. The last to enter were the two agents that had gone to check on the man in the driveway. They dragged him between them; he was handcuffed and aware of his surroundings. He saw Mary, and his eyes got big. He tried to speak, but couldn't do anything but groan in pain. "His jaw's broken, sir. We should get him to the hospital," The female agent said. "Make him as comfortable as possible. If we take him in, the local law enforcement will hear of it, and we'll be in trouble." He turned to Shawn, "Do you have a room we can stick him in? I'd rather keep him isolated for the time being," He asked. "Sure. Tera, could show our... guest... to the spare room?" He turned back to John. "It does have a window, but if he tries to escape that way we'll hear it." He glanced at Tera. John nodded in understanding. "Agent Harris, would you keep him company? We should have more soon enough." The agent nodded and followed Tera out of the room. "Okay, Shawn, from what you've shown us here we have the front door, the back door, plus a 'bolt hole' tunneled from the basement? That's pretty damn elaborate. Not to mention the security system looks to be state of the art. Anyone got any idea how we can get to the house without them running?" John looked around at the assembled agents. Amber had moved her laptop to the far end of the table. One of the agents; a petite and very young-looking girl had moved over behind her. She was standing there with her mouth agape watching Amber. "Uh, sir, I think we may have that covered," The young woman said. "What have you got, Agent Raines?" John asked. "Sir, she's hacked into the security system for the house, I think," She said, indicating Amber. "Amber, hacking is illegal!" John said, laughing. The pale woman looked up at him, nonplussed she said. "Not in this case. We built the security router for that system. I simply used our maintenance password to get into the system. I only have enough room on the computer to record about five minutes of video so you guys better move fast. I have also disabled the alert function so if you trip a sensor, it won't call the police." John just shook his head in wonder. "Still, I don't think we could use any of that as evidence." "John, when you go in, I will shut down the power and the UPS's for the computers. This system is part of the house network, so I can get to everything. I think you should be able to find enough on the computers to get a conviction. However, they have a small editing room in the basement. I would think they have plenty in the safe there as well." "Okay, I already have warrants from a federal judge to cover our asses. Now here is what we'll do... " As he laid out the plan of attack, Tera came back into the room. She listened as he gave the agents their assignments, and they left to get into position. Tera pulled John and Shawn back over to the map. "There is one more thing, John. I didn't put it in my notes, but in this area you will find a large area with a lot of small graves in it," She said, as tears ran down her cheek. John looked shocked for a minute, then remembered who he was talking to. "Damn. I was hoping we would be able to find all the kids still alive. Now we'll have to figure out a way to show that we 'discovered' this, or questions will be asked," John said softly. Mary had been sitting quietly in a corner, forgotten by everyone, until she spoke, softly. "Check the video surveillance from the day before yesterday, around 3:00pm." "Agent Palmer, what the hell is going on? Who are these people, really?" Agent Raines asked. She had been assigned to man the command post there in the dining room with Amber. She had returned to one of the trucks to get her gear. "Agent Raines, Sonya, I will explain everything after this operation; but for now, please, just trust me?" John asked her. She shook her head, but said. "You owe me, John." She started to unpack her equipment, and Amber helped her get tied into the network. ~ ~ ~ ~ Shawn had just started to doze off when she returned. He reached into the back and grabbed the towels before getting out. He walked up to her and realized she still had blood on her fur. "You didn't wash off?" He asked. She shook her head. "Why?" He asked. She stood and walked a couple of yards down the path and turned to him. "You want me to follow you?" She nodded. "Okay, just a sec," He said, walked back to the truck, and locked it up. They were about a hundred yards down the path when he realized he was still carrying the towels. He shrugged it off, and continued following the large wolf. A half mile along the trail, Shawn heard the sound of a creek nearby. Tera looked over her shoulder at him, and turned off the path. He followed her to a secluded grassy beach just a few feet from the trail. The area looked to be a camping spot, though it was hard to tell in the dark. Tera waded into the water, and started to splash around, rolling and playing in the shallows. As Shawn moved to sit on the grass and watch her, she stopped and looked at him. She tilted her head to one side, and growled a bit. It sounded more like a growl of frustration than one of menace. Shawn sat looking at her for a minute before he stood, chuckling, and started to take his clothes off. She didn't go back to playing, but watched him closely. "Holy shit! This is cold!" He exclaimed as he began to wade into the water. If he didn't know better he could have sworn she was laughing at him. The cool water actually started to feel good, and when he got knee deep he sat, feeling his nuts draw back into his body. Tera waded over to him and lay down in the water next to him. He reached out and began scrubbing the dried blood out of her fur. As his hands passed over her body, he felt less fur, and noticed that her body seemed less wolf and more human. He realized with a start that she was changing back. He remembered she had told him she needed to sleep off the evening's meal before changing. He was concerned, as her smiling face looked up at him. "Hi, love," She said. "I thought you had to sleep off the meal?" He asked. "I did. I took a run and then a nap beside the truck." "I guess I really don't know how all this works. Even digested, I don't see how this little body could hold what the other one could." He said as he caressed her belly. Despite the icy water, he felt himself getting hard; she was even prettier than before. "It can't. Uh, do you really want to know all about that? It's rather icky, and I would rather talk about something else," She said. He felt a small warm hand wrap around his cock. She moved around him, so she could straddle his lap, but not yet close enough to slip him inside. "I was worried you would be really big, I am very happy with your size." She leaned forward to kiss him softly on the lips. The kiss grew more passionate, and Shawn raised his hands to caress her pert breasts. He had one arm around her waist holding her to him, and he felt her reaching behind herself. She was slowly jacking his cock with her other hand, holding him near the edge. He broke the kiss and tried to lower his mouth to her breast, so she raised a little to aid him. He heard her moan as he took a nipple into his mouth and felt her pelvis begin to rock slowly back and forth. She released his cock, and put her arm around his neck to hold onto him as he sucked her chilled nipple into his mouth. Her hips were rocking harder and he was about to push her down onto his hard shaft, the tip of which had been teasing her labia. He felt her grab his shaft and pull him farther back. He felt her put him in place and began to push herself down onto him. He realized he was entering her ass, as his head slipped past her sphincter. She moaned loudly, and pushed harder, trying to get him inside of her rear passage. He looked up at her in surprise, and she placed her mouth against his and forced her tongue into his mouth, moaning loudly the whole time. She was almost wild, desperately trying to get his cock into her, but it still took a bit of time to get him fully seated. When at last she had gotten him all the way inside, she broke the kiss, "Oh blessed Goddess, I've wanted this for so long!" "Tera, what..." Shawn started to ask. She silenced him with a finger on his lips. "My Love, I know you probably don't really love me yet, but could you please try to make love to me now. I need you so badly. Please?" Shawn looked at the woman who had stuffed his cock up her ass. A realization came to him then, one that took hold of something deep inside of him and brought tears to his eyes in its strength. "Tera, I do love you. I think I've loved you for as long as I can remember. If you had come to me as Selene, I still would have welcomed you into my arms. I've loved you forever, and I always will." Slowly raising her off his lap, and then pushing her back down in a long slow stroke that had her shuddering. She looked deep into his eyes to see the truth of his words. She clamped her tight ass onto him and she came, screaming her orgasm to the night. In the distance a howl could be heard answering her. Shawn tried to continue the slow pace, but found he couldn't move as she shook through the orgasm. She held him tightly and when she finally stopped screaming lay her head on his shoulder keeping him deep in her bowels, she rocked her hips, sending a wonderful sensation through his body. She was still gripping him very hard as she began to slide up and down in him. She kept up some of the rocking motion, too. He was very quickly filling her tight ass with his seed. She screamed again as she felt him erupt in her ass. She stayed on his lap, his cock softening inside of her bowels. Her head resting on his shoulder. "I love you, Shawn Freeman. This is going to be very hard." He held her to him, caressing her back and softly kissing her shoulder and neck. "What's going to be hard, my love? Besides the obvious? He chuckled and caused his dick to jerk within her. A sharp intake of breath was his sign that she felt it. "You scoundrel," She said. "Sharing you. You have to have a child so the legacy can continue." He sighed, and held her tighter. "I want to have that child with you." He said softly. He held her as she cried softly on his shoulder. He realized that her shivering was due more to the cool water than her emotional state, though. He stood, his cock slipping from her, took her in his arms and waded back to shore. He sat her on the towel he had placed there to watch her. She was quiet as he took another towel and dried her off. He put his shirt around her shoulders as he grabbed another towel and dried himself off. She stood as he picked up his clothes, and the towels, and she took his hand. They walked back to the truck in silence. ~ ~ ~ ~ Shawn had made a few phone calls while waiting for the teams to get into position. He knew a couple of EMT's that would be willing to help out, and that were off duty. He had met them when he hired the fire department to give CPR classes at the offices and plant. The two ladies lived together, and said they would help. He also called the plant nurse he kept on staff, and asked her to stop by the plant and load up as much of her infirmary supplies as she could. The two EMT's would meet her there. Shawn then left to pick up the van Amber had rented. He would be picking up the kids, and bringing them back to his house for treatment. It took all of another hour and a half before everything was ready. Shawn radioed John that he was set. Tera was in a second van, and both had one of the EMT's. Once they had been told of the operation, they insisted that they should go along. The nurse treated the man's broken jaw, but didn't give him anything for pain. The look in her eye said she would rather this man be put to sleep permanently. The raid happened at about 2:00am and went off without a hitch. Amber had effectively neutralized the security system, and the guards that were outside were quickly taken by the agents. All told only eight men were taken alive, two had been shot trying to fight their way out the bolt hole, but all 13 children were rescued, and one young woman. Mary's boyfriend, Bill, was caught sodomizing a severely beaten Jenny in a bedroom. The vaults in the video editing room produced 143 hours of horror. Videotapes confiscated from the security station led searchers to a field behind the large house. Forty-five small bodies were exhumed and sent to the coroner's office for identification. Agent Raines and Amber hacked and decrypted the files on Bill's hard drive. Obtaining a list of who was involved and digital video footage of a number of public figures with small children. The first thing John did upon seeing the footage was place a call to another friend at CNN. The following weeks of investigation resulted in 250 arrests. The largest child pornography and slavery operation in the country was shut down. The twenty-two people involved in the local operation were sentenced to death by lethal injection in a federal court. The graphic nature of the crimes against the men and women involved were not downplayed in the press. Surprisingly, no one protested the courts' ruling. ~ ~ ~ ~ They arrived back at the hotel late in the evening. Though they had not spoken, Tera had not been more than a foot away from Shawn the entire time. She got dressed in the front seat of the truck as Shawn drove. They parked the truck, and walked up to the room, hand in hand. They entered the room and Tera turned to Shawn. In silence she took his clothes off him again, and then stripped herself. She took his hand and led him into the bathroom and gave him a shower. Every touch full of love, every caress full of promise. They kissed tenderly as soft hands gently washed the other's body. After they dried each other, they returned to the bedroom, and crawled in bed still naked. After shutting off the light, Shawn lay on his back. Tera snuggled up tightly beside him. He felt tears on his shoulder again, and caressed her wet, red hair. Her transformation was complete now; she had dark red hair that hung to mid-back. Large C-cup breasts, and a small body. She stood no taller than 5'2" and couldn't weigh over a hundred pounds, Shawn guessed. The muscle that her body showed was amazing; she looked to be in very good shape. It was almost like he was holding a child. She sniffed a couple of times, then turned as if she could see him in the very dark room. "I love you, Shawn." He tried to look through the gloom at her, but all he managed to see was a dark shape. "Tera, I love you," He said softly, still caressing her hair. Tera slid down the bed, taking the covers with her. Shawn was about to ask what she was doing when he felt a pair of soft lips on his semi-erect shaft. He groaned in pleasure as his cock sprang back to life. Tera had her mouth completely down over his shaft and he grew into her throat, her tongue stoking and caressing him. It was so outside what he had felt before, that he came very quickly. Tera never let up; she kept her lips against his groin and continued to suck his shaft, the swallowing motions keeping him hard. This was also new to him, but she backed off and started giving him a normal blowjob. As he built back to a new peak, she stopped and slid up his body, dragging a nipple over his throbbing cock, and up his belly. She threw one leg over him and straddled him again, this time he felt the hot wet moisture from her pussy against his cock. She was so wet; it felt like she was pissing on him. She put her hands on his chest and raised herself up into a sitting position, never breaking contact with his dick. She started rocking her hips again, sliding her pussy up and down his shaft, spreading the sweet nectar all over him. "Shawn," She said, not stopping her movements, "I can't get pregnant. I can't give you that child. I do give you all my love, and all of my body," She said, and pressed down on a forward move of her hips, pressing his cock into her. When she rocked back, it pushed into her very tight, dripping pussy. He felt an obstruction as he was entering her; she forced him through it. A shuddering whimper escaped her throat as she forced him through her hymen. She stopped as her hips again met his; he pulled her forward and wrapped his arms around her. "It's enough baby. Our love is enough," He whispered to her. "We can share this love. I won't be with anyone else without you." "What do you mean?" She sniffed. "I love you so much it's all I can think about. But you do need me to have a child. If I must, then you will be a part of its creation. We will find another to share in our love. We will do this together," he vowed. "I love you so much Shawn. I love you!" She pressed her lips to his and he slowly began moving inside of her. He pulled out almost all the way, then slowly pushed back into her. Tera moaned loudly and started shaking, her pussy tightening more on his slow-moving cock. She was having an orgasm, and every move by Shawn increased its intensity. The emotion of the moment took its toll on Shawn as well, and after a few strokes, he began to fill her womb with his seed. She collapsed on top of Shawn and he managed to get an arm around her before they were both asleep. ~ ~ ~ ~ John called Shawn a couple of months later to ask if he could come for a visit. Mary and Jenny had stayed with Shawn and his ladies, but hadn't joined them. Amber was working with Jenny to try to repair the emotional damage done to the young woman. When Shawn announced the news of John's visit that evening, he thought he saw a sparkle in Mary's smiling eyes. He saw the same one in Amber's eyes when he mentioned Agent Raines would be coming, too. He just shook his head and decided to look for a bigger house tomorrow. Shawn, Tera and Amber had lived in a large, four-bedroom rancher since starting up the business. The house had been paid for years before, and Amber had been investing their extra money. With the purchase of the other two companies, she created a new corporation as a tax shelter; Freeman Holdings, with Shawn, Tera and herself as the board members. She was one very smart (and very sexy) vampire. Shawn found a place about a week later, an old farm house just outside of town. The house was falling down and the outbuildings were gone, but he bought the land anyway, and called the architects he used to build his offices, and the plant. The evening before the meeting with the architects, John and Sonya arrived. Shawn was surprised when they pulled up in a sedan instead of a big SUV. Since it was a warm June evening, Shawn had fired up the grill. Amber sat at the kitchen table away from the window, fiddling with her computer, and Tera and Mary were busy in the kitchen. Jenny was taking a nap. "Welcome back, you two, it's good to see you again," Shawn said as he let them in the door. "Thanks for having us," John said. Sonya just smiled. "The girls are in the back, come on in," Shawn closed the door. He couldn't help but notice Sonya's tight little butt encased in painted-on Levi's as he followed them. After the rounds of greetings, Shawn asked the two newcomers; "I was just about to throw some shrimps on the barbie." "I didn't know you knew how to barbeque shrimp!" John said accepting the beer Mary handed him. "I don't. How do you like your steak?" Shawn chuckled. Mary also offered Sonya a beer, but seeing that Amber had a glass of dark red wine, she pointed and asked, "Can I have a glass of that instead?" Mary looked a little stricken but Amber bailed her out. "Sweetheart, this isn't wine." "Oh," Sonya said. "Do you have any wine? Beer doesn't usually agree with me." "How about a wine cooler?" Mary offered. "Perfect. Thank you." Sonya sat next to Amber. The food was cooked and dinner was set outside as the sun was going down. Tera stepped outside and bent her head as the last rays of light left the land. Shawn put his finger to his lips letting his guests know to be quiet for a moment. He stepped up to Tera, and took her hands, bowing his head also. A few minutes later Shawn and Tera raised their eyes to look into each other's, Shawn bent in and kissed her tenderly on the lips. "I love you," He whispered to her. "I love you, too," She replied. They turned and, hand in hand, walked to the table. Before sitting down, Tera walked over to Amber and kissed her tenderly as well. As she moved back to sit on the other side of Shawn, John spoke. "You know, after all these years, you three are still so in love. How do you do it?" Amber answered for them. "Shawn and Tera's love is eternal. They have honored me by including me in it. Something that strong can never die." "That's beautiful," Sonya said softly from her place next to Amber. "Sure, it's beautiful now, just wait a week!" Shawn said, and was promptly slapped on each shoulder by his ladies. "What happens in a week?" Sonya asked. Amber got a playful look in her eyes. "Luna comes for a three day visit." "Who's Luna?" Sonya asked, glancing at John, who was chuckling. He pointed at Tera. "Okay, I must not be connecting to the network here; I have no idea what you guys are talking about," Sonya said, looking totally confused. "Luna comes to visit during the three days of the lunar cycle, dear. Once a month, it affects me, too, though I thought that becoming a vampire would end that damned cycle," Amber said. Sonya still looked lost, so Amber took pity on her. "Sweetheart, John told you about Tera and I, right?" The girl nodded. "Okay, now think what PMS would be like for us?" Sonya sat for a second thinking, then winced and totally straight-faced said to Tera, "Wow, that must be a real bitch!" Shawn was taking a drink from his beer, and snorted out his nose at her remark. The rest of the table, except for Sonya, burst out laughing. Even Jenny could be seen to chuckle. Amber stopped laughing long enough to hug Sonya to her side, and amid chuckles explained to her that Tera turned into a female wolf. "Oh shit!" Sonya exclaimed and joined the laughter. After a few minutes the laughter faded away, and they began the meal. Shawn looked at John at the other end of the table. "So, John, enough suspense already, I know you well enough to know this isn't just a social call. What's on your mind?" John grinned at his old friend. "We want to work with you. I've always had an interest in the supernatural, and as a result of that, I've usually been assigned to x-file cases. We did good work here and I want to do more, instead of getting laughed out of the office all time. To be totally honest with you, my family name has not always been Palmer. I found an old notebook once that read like a Bram Stoker novel. It was a diary of my great-grandfather's. His name was Gabriel Van Helsing. Actually I think there is another 'great' or two in there, but you get the point. "The FBI isn't where I want to be, but I did enjoy the work. I guess what I'm asking is; How would you like to form an investigation agency? Both Sonya and I still have our contacts at the bureau, and they will also let us know about any 'weird' cases." Shawn had stopped eating and was looking at John. "Still have?" "Uh, yeah. Sonya and I have been talking about this for awhile. We both resigned the bureau three days ago. She hasn't been on a field assignment since the operation here. She was reassigned to the analysis section. Not what she wanted, either." "I have to admit it does sound interesting. It would certainly help Tera," Shawn said, thinking. "Well, I know I sure felt good about what we did here. I wouldn't mind doing more," Amber said. She placed her hand on Shawn's arm. Tera looked thoughtful for a few minutes. "It would be helpful to have more information as to where I need to go. However, you all have to know that I couldn't stand seeing any of you hurt trying to help me. What I hunt is very deadly." John chuckled. "My grandfather left some interesting ideas and concepts in his notebook. Such as a formula for a liquid silver that he never got to test, and using mercury to slow or knock a werewolf out." Tera shivered listening to John's descriptions. He noticed, "Tera, I want you to know, I trust you completely. I wouldn't allow anyone on our team that wasn't 100% about that. The same goes for you, Amber. Granted, I didn't trust you at first, but Shawn and Tera love you and trust you. That's good enough for me." "It seems the girls would like to do this. Mary? Jenny? How do you feel about this?" Shawn asked. "Shawn, you don't need our permission to do this, we're not really part of the family," Mary answered. "Yes, Mary, you both are. You live here, and we care about you. That's all that counts," Tera said. Jenny looked at her mother with tears welling in hopeful eyes, and nodded slightly. "Well, how can we say no to that? We'd be happy to be a part of this," Mary replied. "But what could we do?" "There'll be plenty, I'm sure," Shawn said. "I'm having a new house built, but I don't think it'll be finished for at least a year. I guess until then, we can turn the garage here into an office. We can find an apartment or something for you tomorrow, or you can stay here with us. It'll be a bit cramped but I'm sure we can find beds for everyone." "Damn Shawn, thanks! That certainly helps with immediate problems," John said. "Oh am I getting ideas!" Amber said. "Ideas we might be able to sell; at least to the military, and possibly to law enforcement agencies, too." Shawn and Tera chuckled. "Well, anyway, the architects will be meeting with us here tomorrow night. I would like everyone to be here to help with ideas, okay?" Shawn looked around the table to see everyone nod in agreement. When he looked at Jenny, she smiled sweetly, and looked down. She really was a beautiful young woman. Shawn could never understand how someone could do anything to hurt her. The meal was pretty much over by this point. Jenny knew her time had come. She'd seen this when she'd first met Amber. She was still having a few problems with depression and anxiety, but tonight she wanted to complete what she felt was her cure. She hadn't spoken since the night of her rescue; what use did words have? She rose from the table, her move attracting everyone's attention. She stood beside Amber, put an arm around her and leaned down to kiss her softly on the lips. As she stood up she noticed an almost stricken look on Sonya's face. She reached over and caressed her cheek, letting her know this didn't mean what she was thinking. The table had gone silent watching Jenny. She moved over to Tera, and kissed her the same way, but this time she took Tera's hand, and placed it on her belly. Tera looked up at her questioningly. Jenny met her eyes, then looked to Shawn. Tears formed in Tera's eyes as Jenny's meaning came to her. She threw both arms around the younger girl and pulled her close. Jenny smiled, and caressed her head. She dropped a kiss on the top of Tera's head and pulled away. Her smile grew as she moved down the table to her mother and John. She took her mother's hand, and placed it into John's. Giving each of them a kiss on the cheek, she continued to move around the table. Stopping between Amber and Sonya, she put their hands together as well, again kissing them both on the cheek. She stepped around Amber and took her other hand, joining it with Shawn's but placed them more in front of him. She stepped around Shawn, and added Tera's hand to Amber's and Shawn's. She then placed her own hand over the joining of the three, and looked intently at Amber. "You've had a vision, and this is what you've seen?" Amber asked. Jenny nodded, smiled and placed her left hand over her belly, and looked at Shawn with loving eyes. As she looked, the love turned to wonder, and she tilted her head to one side. She took her hand from the joined ones on the table and caressed his cheek. She got a huge smile on her face and moved back between Amber and Sonya. She took Ambers hand and placed it on Sonya's belly. When Amber gave her a startled look, Jenny smiled and nodded toward Shawn. "B-but I'm gay!" Sonya said. "No offence Shawn, but I'm just not attracted to you." Before Shawn could say anything, Jenny giggled and rolled her eyes. She motioned that Sonya should push her chair away from the table. Sonya did as she asked, confusion clearly written all over her face. Jenny took Amber's hand, and pulled her up guiding her to sit on Sonya's lap facing her. Amber sat, and put her arms around the young woman. Amber gave her a quick, soft kiss on the lips, but they broke it up to see what Jenny was up to. She had taken Shawn's hand, and pulled him to a standing position behind Amber, motioning for him to kneel. Once he had done that, she placed his hand on Sonya's hips. Once she had finished arranging thing to prove how a lesbian Sonya would get pregnant, Jenny stood back and looked pointedly at Sonya. "Oh," Sonya said. Amid chuckles, Mary said, "Gee, don't we get a harem, too?" Everyone chuckled more, except John. "I don't need one," He said and caressed her cheek with the back of his fingers. Mary almost swooned. "You know, this family just keeps getting more and more interesting," Tera said. ~ ~ * ~ ~ <1st attachment end> ----- ASSM Moderation System Notice------ Notice: This post has been modified from its original format.
