   Chapter 25

I stepped back into the bedroom portion of the ground floor and went
looking for Aimee. I had lust in my heart and a boner in my pants.
Gloria, who slept with Aimee, Helen, Brenda and lately Jan, was the only
one of them still in bed. She grinned at me as I came to sit on the bed
beside her. I leaned over to give her a kiss, finding that she slept nude
I pushed the sheet back to play with her titties. Her large nipples still
fascinated me.

"Do you know where Aimee is?" I asked her as I twisted a nipple.

"She went up with the Hawkeye. They were going to get an early morning
peek at the goings on around Phoenix." Gloria told me.

That took care of that little distraction for a while. I decided to
just lie down and suck Gloria's nipples and see if I couldn't think of
something to do this morning. I figured Nancy would come looking for me in
a minute. I intended to drag her into bed with Gloria and me as soon as
she got into range.

The prearranged signal that called all pilots to duty went off just then
and Gloria pulled her nipple from my lips, saying she was sorry but that
she had to go.

Well shit. I hoped it was just a drill and actually assumed it was,
since there was nothing too serious going on at the moment. The only thing
that we had flying now was a Hawkeye and a couple of F15s to watch it.

I adjusted my hardon in my pants and headed for the control center.
When I got there things seemed a little tense. Kelly, Brenda, Clair and
Seven were glued to the radar display. I just watched, not disturbing them
for a minute or two. Finally I had to ask.

   "What's up?"

"We nearly got caught with our pants down Jack. Apparently the people
at Phoenix have been paying more attention to us than we thought. I think
they jumped the gun though." Seven told me.

   "What did they do?"

"They nearly let the Hawkeye get close enough to have a good chance at
forcing or shooting it down. They didn't have anything in the air; but
when the Hawkeye got about a hundred miles from here toward them they put
up five F16s at once. They all turned to an intercept course with the
Hawkeye and it looks like they hit the burners." Brenda explained.

"We have F15s up protecting the Hawkeye don't we?"

"Yes; but we only have two. We can make them leave the Hawkeye alone
but we might take a hit with the F15s. It depends on whether they want to
make a fight of it. The Hawkeye is already headed back here. We're
scrambling ten more F15s in about three minutes." Seven told me.

"Hold them. Have the other two stay with the Hawkeye. Just have it fly
straight over us toward DFW." I commanded her.

"What do you want to do?" Seven asked, she could tell I had something on
my mind from my tone.

"Find the frequency the F16s are on and get the Patriots ready to lock
on to them. I doubt they will have a chance to seriously threaten the
Hawkeye before they are in range of the Patriots. They sure as hell won't
be expecting them. What do you think they will do when they find out we
have a missile lock on all of them." I asked.

"It will wake them up for sure." Seven grinned.

"As soon as they discover that, send up the F15s as fast as you can and
we will invite the F16s to land." I told her.

"I have their frequency now." Clair said.

"Fix it so I can talk to them when it's time." I told her.

"What about our F15s, are they ready to go?" I asked Seven.

She talked to Henny on the intercom. Henny told her that all they
needed now was the signal. She said they could all be up within two
minutes.

"Let them think they're doing some good before we show our cards. I
want them well within range; but I don't want to shoot at them unless they
shoot first." I made myself plain.

We were listening to them now. There seemed to be a male pilot and four
female pilots. We didn't know if they had EWOs or not. It would be much
more dangerous if they did. F16s could carry some long-range air-to-air
stuff.

The Hawkeye was about to cross over us and it would just continue on.
The F16s were on the burner and coming fast. I could hear the gloating in
the male pilot's voice as he gave directions to threaten and force the
Hawkeye down, telling his pilots not to fire on it unless the F15s made a
threatening move. He was in for a shock. He didn't mention any thoughts
about any other defenses we might have.

The Hawkeye was fifty miles past us when the F16s entered the PAC3
missile's fifteen-kilometer range. I signaled Brenda to light them up and
told Seven to let our F15s go. I heard the F15s' engines roar as Brenda
was flicking switches on the Patriot's console.

In ten seconds I heard the women in the F16s all try to transmit at
once. One finally came in the clear and reported that she had multiple
missile locks on her and then the others said the same thing in turn. The
male acknowledged that he had the same. There was a lull.

"F16 pilots from the Phoenix area. We have monitored you and your
actions seem hostile. Drop out of supersonic flight and lower your landing
gear or we will launch." I spoke up on their frequency.

"You have fifteen seconds." I continued.

"Bullshit. Don't listen to him." The male ordered.

"Fuck that, ten F15s just got up right under us and Shirley says those
are Patriots that have a lock on us. The other two F15s have turned back
toward us too." A female said.

"They're bluffing. Keep for the Hawkeye." The male commanded.

Four of the F16s cut their speed but one still roared toward the
Hawkeye. I'd let him get too close already and signaled Brenda to launch on
him. She sent a single PAC3 and it got him in about eight to ten seconds.
Brenda said he had been trying to lock onto the Hawkeye right before it hit
him.

Helen called in and said she had a parachute in sight. I told Seven to
send a couple of Cobras and the Sikorsky with a doctor and a nurse. I
turned my attention to the other F16s.

"Phoenix aircraft. Land at the strip you see near you and exit your
aircraft peacefully. We are sending a rescue chopper for your downed
pilot." I told them.

Two of them acknowledged my transmission. I gave them about fifteen
seconds.

"Please acknowledge or I will be forced to launch again." I told them.

All four of them acknowledged this time. Brenda told me that they were
circling the airstrip and one was already on final. Jasmine had come from
the airstrip by this time. I asked her if she had some armed people there
and she said there were twenty. She, Seven and I headed that way.

All the F16s were on the ground by the time we got there. All our F15s
were still up keeping a watch. Brenda had already turned the Hawkeye back
around before we left the command center. I nearly decided to just put up
about ten more F15s and head for Phoenix but convinced myself that would be
stupid.

We now had at least eight captives and we would soon have a much better
idea of what waited for us in Phoenix. I asked Jasmine to send the four
pilots and four EWOs to the cafeteria for breakfast in case they hadn't
eaten. I told her to give them a couple of rooms in the guest quarters
after they were fed.

"I apologize for the cramped quarters we will have to offer you; but we
are growing a little too fast for our amenities at the moment." I told
them.

"Why did you force us down and what are you going to do with us." One of
them asked.

"I forced you down because you were obviously intending to capture of
destroy my aircraft. I am going to debrief you after you've eaten. What
happens to you after that is still pending." I told her.

"We don't have to answer your questions. According to the Geneva..."
She tried to say but I broke in.

"There are no Geneva conventions now. I doubt there is even anyone in
Geneva. In the first place you are not in the military or you would surely
be dead. That means you are a civilian and must be a spy or a terrorist.
In either case, all you can expect for your silence is death. Is that what
you want? I can convene a firing squad almost at once." I told her.

She was shaken by that, hell I would have been. She didn't say
anything.

"Why don't you just go have some breakfast and a couple of cups of
coffee? It will give you a chance to reflect on your position here." I
told her.

She didn't have anything else to say strangely. One of the others spoke
up though.

"What about James? Did he make it?"

"We don't know yet. We have three helicopters looking for him. I'll
let you know as soon as there is any news." I said as I headed back for the
command center.

Jasmine detailed a couple of armed guards apiece for them and then she
accompanied Seven and me to the center.

When we got there Brenda told me that the male pilot was dead when they
found him. Broke his neck somehow. I hated it but he did it himself.
Somehow pilots, male ones at least, seemed to think they were invincible.

The Hawkeye was happily steaming back toward Arizona. I told them to
just keep all the F15s up for escort duty. They said that the first two
were getting low on fuel. I asked if they could get a tanker up. They
said they were waiting to see what I wanted to do and that they would have
them refueled in twenty minutes.

Seven wanted to know when we were going to talk to the captured women. I
told her that I wanted them to stew for a couple of hours at least. We
decided to wait until after lunch.

Brenda broke in and said that the Hawkeye reported that the planes had
probably not come from Phoenix. They had recently discovered radar
activity coming from Davis-Monthan AFB and that calls to the F16s seemed to
be coming from there also. She told me that there didn't seem to be any
more planes lifting off right now.

I doubted if there would be. Even if they had plenty of planes and
pilots, I didn't think they would try anything else without a little time
for talking it over. They had lost five planes and nine people with their
little stunt. They probably didn't have a very good idea of what even
happened to them. It was nearly eight hundred miles from here to there and
I doubt that they would have been able to hear the radio traffic between
their planes and us. I knew that they couldn't hear our part of it.

I was pretty sure they were just in the dark. I had to wonder what kind
of leadership they had. I also wondered what they hoped to gain. Did they
think we would just let them have the Hawkeye? Maybe they were taking a
chance that they would have an overwhelming force. Bad fucking news for
them then.

I guessed they were going to get a better idea of what they were up
against now. The Hawkeye and its newly strengthened escort would be
showing up on their radar soon. I was hoping it would give them pause
before sending out another raid on us.

I knew I was going to have to do something about them now though.
Unless this was all of them and I doubted it, I couldn't let them sit out
there and gain strength. I didn't see any real alternative to absorbing
them. Depending on their strength, I was going to corral them either
tomorrow or wait until I had acquired more of my assets, and absorb them
later.

Seven already had things set up to start calling our people in tomorrow.
We would have to visit a small safe house northwest of McKinney to gather
the people that would broadcast our messages. I just hoped they were still
alive and doing well.

The Hawkeye reported in again and said that the Davis-Monthan site had
gone quiet. I'm sure they decided that discretion was the better part of
valor for a time at least. I asked Brenda how we were fixed for keeping an
eye on the place. She told me that there were no extra crewmen on the
Hawkeye to keep it up after these were tired. She said we would also need
to change the escort in a few hours and that we didn't really have enough
F15 pilots to keep that large an escort up 24 / 7.

I asked Brenda and Seven to see if they could work out the size and
planning for a rotating force that could watch them full time for a few
days. They said we could do it, but we probably couldn't keep more than
four F15s up with it. I told them to set it up, but that I would question
the captured women before we did anything.

My feeling was that the group around Phoenix was just a small one that
probably wouldn't cause us much trouble. Small groups could grow though.
Small groups with the kind of assets they seemed to be sitting on could
grow into large deadly groups. I had a facility in the Phoenix area and
the small group could get to be troublesome if it discovered my facility
there and moved against it. They had to be dealt with

I headed back toward the cafeteria for some lunch. When I got there
George and Mike were just sitting down too. I sat with them.

"Jack, I don't want to butt into things that might not be my concern,
but I have something I want to mention to you." Mike said.

"Mike I always want to hear whatever you have on your mind." I told him.

"George and I have talked it over, and the way we seem to be getting
more and more people, we think we need to do something about it." Mike
said.

When he didn't elaborate I kept quiet for a few seconds. I didn't have
any idea what he had on his mind and I was sifting through mine wondering
what this was about.

"We think that we need to gather some more cattle before it goes wild or
starves to death. We have a lot of well-fenced acreage here and plenty of
feed. We even have a facility for slaughtering the livestock, and we are
going through a lot of beef right now. There must be a lot of livestock
that need care around. Even if we just gathered it up and slaughtered it
we would be ahead." Mike told me.

"I hadn't even thought of that Mike. I'm sure you're right. We will be
growing constantly from now on. What would be the best way to secure some
of the cattle?" I asked.

"The easiest way to locate it would be with a helicopter. If one of the
pilots had time to just take me up to look around it would be a good start.
I'd try to find cattle that was still doing pretty well and that would be
in good fences where we could gather it easily. If I had fairly regular
use of a helicopter I could just leave some of the stock where it was and
check on it every day or two. It should still be a month or two before we
need to feed them. We mainly need to make sure they have water and
minerals." Mike explained.

I'll have a helicopter and a couple of pilots assigned to you for as
long as you can make use of them Mike. I need to ask you something too.
When I went to Nebraska I saw a lot of corn in the fields. Do you think we
could salvage anything useful by trying to harvest it?" I asked.

"I'm sure we could. If nothing else we could use it for cattle feed.
There is a lot of feed here already; but more wouldn't hurt us." He said.

"I also thought about trying to get some of the stored grain that is
around the country in grain elevators. Do you think we could have any
success with that?"

"Probably, I've never tried to get anything out of one but I'm sure that
it isn't too hard. Grain is put in them to be taken out." He said.

"I'll get you the helicopter so you can find more cattle and then we'll
see about the corn and stored grain. The helicopter will be assigned to
you for whatever you would like to do with it. If you think of something
else that might help feed us or protect us don't bother to ask for
permission. Use the helicopter as you see fit and don't hesitate to ask
for anything else you feel you need. I won't be overworking you will I?" I
asked.

"Gathering and feeding a few thousand head of cattle couldn't be nearly
as hard as trying to keep up with making space for your harem." He said
laughing.

George joined him at my expense then. I didn't mind. Mike had done a
hell of a job on anything I'd asked him to do before. He and George had
that examination table set up in my bedroom and it looked like it was put
there when the house was built. All the partitions were gone from the
other five bedrooms now and there were currently seventeen of the big beds
spaced around in the freed up area, and the place didn't seem crowded at
all.

I finished eating, said my goodbyes to Mike and George and headed back
to the command center. When I got there I told Brenda, Clair, Seven and
Jasmine of Mike's suggestion. Jasmine said that she would get him two
pilots for a Little Bird. That way he would have a pilot available at all
times. I asked her to make sure it was fitted with long-range tanks, in
case Mike wanted to search for other things.

Jasmine said in that case she would assign two helicopters and four
pilots for his use. That way if he wanted to roam very far he would have
better protection. She was also going to ask Henny to keep an A10 ready to
get up quickly in case Mike needed extra support in a hurry.

The Little Birds were armed and I'd been told that they could give a
good account of themselves; but they were mostly for observation and recon.
I guessed that they could observe cows as well as enemy.

The additional assets for Mike's protection were something I wouldn't
have thought of; but I was glad that Jasmine had. I had come to depend on
Mike and his idea about salvaging cattle and other things that were just
left unattended was a valuable one.

All was still quiet out toward Arizona. All but four of the F15s had
been recalled and the other Hawkeye was ready to take up the chore later
this afternoon. It would have four pilots and four crewmen. That way they
could rotate and stay rested. The tanker could keep them and the F15s
refueled. The F15s would rotate back to base about every six to eight
hours though.

Seven and I left for the guest quarters. She wanted to just go ahead
and turn the women right off the bat. I didn't want to start in on that
yet. I was going to hold them but that was as far as I was willing to go
right now. If we didn't get the information we wanted out of them I might
even give them the drug we'd used on Melinda. I wasn't up to raping them
to turn them yet.

I hadn't even thought about Melinda in days. She had gotten all our
attention with her attack on the Cobra. It had turned out to be a lot of
worry about nothing much, and Melinda seemed harmless now. Hell if I
wasn't mistaken she was sleeping in my quarters with Debbie, Andrea and
Paula now. I wondered if she expected a little attention from me sooner or
later. If I caught her shambling around on her crutches in a T-shirt some
morning I was going to give her a proper inspection and see what happened.
She was a sexy little thing after all and I didn't want her to feel left
out.

Who was I trying to fool? I didn't even have time to jack off lately,
much less sneak a girl on crutches off to try and fuck her. Maybe things
would settle down later.

Seven and I separated the captives when we got there. Putting each one
in a different room. I wasn't going to let them get back together as long
as I thought they had information I needed. It would mean some people
would have to vacate the guest quarters; but it would just have to be done.
I wasn't going to give them time to get any lies straight after I started
questioning them.

Gail was the one that had tried to spout off about the Geneva
conventions. She'd changed her tune remarkably. Having to go from
thoughts of name, rank and serial number to the stark possibility of a
firing squad must have been inhibiting. She was also sobered when we told
her that the male pilot hadn't made it.

She spilled her guts from the get go. They were indeed in residence at
Davis-Monthan. There were about fifty people in the group. Ten were men
and the rest women. Approximately thirty had been former airmen and the
rest were civilians. Some had worked on the base. Twelve had been pilots
and eight had been former EWOs. There were three male and four female
pilots left at Davis-Monthan. They had some minimal ground defenses but
had relied mostly on the air cover for their safety. They hadn't really
ever needed any defense. No one had bothered them.

I was amazed again at what they must have been thinking. They had been
safe and unmolested and had just decided to go flying around trying to
force down or shoot down aircraft that weren't threatening.

The mission for the Hawkeye had been James' idea. Most of the others
hadn't thought it was worthwhile. Gail really didn't seem to know how it
had come to be. They didn't really have a formal leader and mostly just
talked things over before doing anything. James had been really forceful
about wanting to get the Hawkeye and they had finally just gone along with
him. The civilians hadn't even had any idea what it was used for. Gail
seemed to think that it was just her bad luck for finally agreeing to go
with James and the others.

I didn't mention that it was all their bad luck. I knew now that I
might as well just go ahead and absorb them for their own safety as well as
for my safety and my needs. All they could accomplish with their committee
style of leadership was more of what they'd gotten this morning. They'd
let one hothead talk them into risking valuable and scarce resources, not
to mention nine lives, for nothing. They didn't even have any people that
knew how to use the Hawkeye effectively. They could fly it of course; but
I'd already found out that making sense of the data a Hawkeye could gather
wasn't for a beginner.

It seemed that they had been like a cat watching a moving piece of
twine. Finally their curiosity had gotten the better of them and they had
to pounce on it. Curiosity had gotten the better of James at least, and he
had goaded the rest of them into going with him.

They hadn't had any inkling that there was such a large group here.
They certainly didn't even consider running into surface to air missiles.
She finally said that they probably agreed to do it for want of anything
else constructive to be doing. They had plenty of food and, they thought,
plenty of protection.

"What do you think the rest of your group will do if confronted by
twenty Cobras and a hundred ground troops, with ten or fifteen F15s for air
cover." I asked her.

"I believe they will surrender unless they think you intend to harm them
after they do. They will be suspicious though, especially since James is
dead." She told me.

"James was trying to get a lock on the Hawkeye when the Patriot took him
out. What was I supposed to do, just let him shoot it down?" I asked

"It was the only thing you could do; but that won't make it any easier
for the others to swallow." She said.

"I guess I don't understand at all. When I'm attacked I will defend
myself. Did you think that the missiles were fakes?" I wanted to know.

"James was a hell of a pilot. He was actually from the Navy. He had
probably heard that lock warning a thousand times in practice. I guess he
just couldn't believe that it was real." She told me.

"It's just a damned shame. I need Navy pilots. I'm going to get a
carrier going." I told her.

She looked at me like I was crazy. She pointed out that carriers had
crews of thousands.

"I know they do; but I don't have thousands. I have hundreds though and
I doubt anyone else has anything close. I won't need the carrier for a
year or so. I will have time to train enough people to get it going after
a fashion. I won't need to launch and recover planes as fast as they had
to when there were several armies and navies over the world." I explained.

"Why would you even want one at all? Do you intend to take over the
world?" She asked.

   "Eventually." I told her.

I left her thinking about that. Seven and I went to talk to the next
one. They were all cooperative and since their stories were pretty nearly
the same we decided we didn't need to drug them.

We got the details of where the other group was staying and about their
defenses. They were meager. They routinely had only two or three on watch
after dark.

I was undecided as to what my next move was. I felt we needed to deal
with them promptly; but I thought a hundred ground troops would be
stretching us thin. I could have many more at my disposal after two or
three days but I was afraid to wait.

I called Seven, Brenda, Clair and Jasmine into my study to talk it over.
I gave them the information that Seven and I had gathered. Jasmine said we
didn't need a hundred ground troops. She pointed out that they didn't
really have any trained ground troops and no helicopters besides. She was
for giving them the same treatment we had given the little bunker in Waco.

Seven said that she thought that would work with a little beefing up.
She wanted some F15s to show up to make sure they didn't get anything off
the ground. She agreed with Jasmine that we didn't need a hundred ground
troops. She thought fifty would be plenty. Brenda agreed with her.

Seven finally summed it up saying that we should send ten Cobras and
three Chinooks to take the troops. They should leave soon so they could be
in position to strike at dawn tomorrow. She thought we should let six F15s
make a supersonic pass over the base at about two thousand feet to wake
them up at dawn, and let the Cobras surround their sleeping quarters like
they had the little bunker. Then we would set down the Chinooks and get
down and dirty if we had to.

They all raised hell when I told them that I was going and would talk to
the leader. They raised so much hell that I let them talk me out of it. I
impressed upon them that I didn't want any bloodshed if it could be
avoided. I asked them to phrase it as an invitation to join us if they
could get by with it. They agreed and then dispersed to get things
organized.

I'm sure I was in the way for the rest of the night. I fretted and
worried. I barely got any sleep. The choppers left before dark. The F15s
left before dawn the next morning. I didn't hear shit until eight
forty-five.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
----

We got our nose bloodied but not too bad. Two of the male pilots had
holed up in a little equipment shack. My people could have taken them out
with grenades but hesitated to kill them. The pilots just held my troops
off in the little shack, sneaking a shot out every now and again. Finally
they made contact and wounded one of the male team members in the thigh.
Pissed now, Jasmine directed a Cobra to put a 20mm burst into the shack.
The one that lived came out bleeding severely.

If we hadn't let Karen, Beverly and Jana go on the trip he would have
died in ten minutes. As it was he would be laid up three to four weeks.
Luckily he hadn't taken any really solid hits. Karen thought it was
probably just metal ripped from the shack as the rounds went through. The
dead one had taken a 20mm right in the chest. He didn't have a chest
anymore when Karen got to him.

They were all rounded up and notified that they would be joining us
after that. The remaining male pilot wanted to know what right we had to
take them prisoners.

Jasmine was still a little angry about our wounded team member and about
having to kill and wound the two idiots. She reminded him that they had
attacked us first and asked if he would rather be a prisoner or a corpse.
What do you think he decided on?

I really didn't understand the thinking of some people. What in the
hell did they expect? That idiot James trying to take out a Hawkeye while
twelve F15s and several surface to air missiles were on his ass. The fools
in the equipment shack, there'd been twelve Cobras and fifty armed ground
troops against two of them. What in the fuck did they think was going to
happen. I made up my mind to ask the wounded one what in the hell he was
thinking if he lived.

One of the smaller facilities was in the Phoenix area and I sent six of
the Cobras and those flying them to stay there. I'd instructed them to
keep a watch over the air base and make sure it didn't gather another set
of residents. I also sent twenty-four of the ground troops to stay at
Phoenix. We would need the beds at Ft Worth anyway. I cautioned them to
check on the supplies as soon as they got there and to have the local team
order anything they needed.

Twelve of the remaining troops that had come as ground forces swore that
they could get an F16 off the ground and safely back down. Henny and two
of her crew had gone on the raid incase something needed fixing along the
way. They armed twelve of the F16s and checked them out. The twelve to
fly them stayed the night at the air base and everybody coming back to Ft
Worth found a ride. The prisoners were spread out in two of the three
Chinooks. Those coming home arrived about six forty-five pm. Then the
hassles started.

I had all the new people brought into the living room and there were a
few armed team members standing around to make sure that we kept control.
The new 'recruits' commenced bitching at once about their captivity. I
noticed after a few minutes that it was mostly the captured men that were
giving me the shit. Of these it was the remaining male pilot that was the
loudest. I had them taken to the guest quarters and continued with the
talk.

Removing the men got me mostly silence from the women. I quickly
decided that they were probably scared.

"I haven't sent the men out to be executed. They were monopolizing the
conversation and mainly repeating themselves. I want to hear all your
complaints, not just theirs." I told the group.

"I'd like to take up where they left off then. What right did you have
capturing us and bringing us here." A brunet, who said her name was Sue,
asked me.

"What right did you have sending five fighters to capture our
reconnaissance aircraft?" I asked in return.

"We have a perfect right to defend ourselves." She said.

"You had no need to defend yourselves from a Hawkeye. It wasn't even
armed. It was barely a hundred miles from here and fully six hundred miles
from your base. You made a calculated offensive move against it. We gave
your pilots every chance to land safely after they crossed directly over
us." I told them.

"You shot James down and it killed him." She persisted.

"James ignored our warnings and was trying to get a lock on the Hawkeye
as the missile hit him. I'm sorry he was killed but I don't see what else
I could have done. Life isn't some big fucking game now where you can
attack people and not expect them to shoot back. If you attack someone you
had better make sure that you can succeed." I went on.

"Well it's plain that you made sure of that. You surrounded us with
overwhelming force and captured all of us except poor Darrin whom you
killed while wounding Franklin." She accused.

"Poor Darrin and poor Franklin weren't smart enough to look out and see
that they had no hope of success, they kept firing and wounded one of my
people. Poor Darin was too stupid to live. Would any of the rest of you
like to take an M16 out and tackle twelve Cobras and fifty troops?" I asked
but got no takers.

"Now I think you can see what became of poor Darrin, the same thing that
happened to poor James, they puffed out there chest and bearded the lion.
The lion didn't like it." I said.

"And I guess you think you're the lion." Sue spit out sarcastically.

"If I'm not you'd better hope you never get this close to the real one."
I told her with a little menacing tone myself.

This put another lull in the conversation. I could see that I wasn't
getting any closer to knowing what most of the people thought.

"Well I guess you've convinced me that none of you want to join our
group. In the morning I'll have the Chinooks take you back to
Davis-Monthan and I'll give you two days to prepare for our next attack.
We won't be taking prisoners at that time, so I'd advise you to do a better
job on your defenses during your two days." I told them all.

"Seven, please take all these people down to the guest quarters. They
all want to go back to their old home. After they're settled you should
probably call up another couple hundred ground troops. We will probably
have to dig some of them out in a few days." I told her.

Just like in the TV commercial, I could have heard a pin drop, for a few
seconds. Some of the others found their voices then.

"She doesn't speak for all of us, she's just one of the loudest. I
don't want to go back with them." A redhead spoke up.

This opened the floodgates and most of the rest began to speak at once.
I settled them down and ask everyone that wanted to return with Sue to go
and stand by her. One other woman stayed with her for about ten seconds,
then she looked in Sue's eyes and joined all the others.

"I guess we can cancel the Chinooks then. Even if all the men want to
go back we can take them in a Sikorsky. Please take the others out and
find them temporary places to sleep. I think I'll talk to Sue a while
longer. We will need to interview all of them separately tomorrow though."
I told Seven.

Seven left with the others. I waved Sue over to sit on a couch and
asked her if she'd like something to drink, waving at the wet bar in the
corner. She declined so I sat near, but not very near her, on the couch.

"What is your main objection to staying with us Sue?" I asked.

"I know things have changed now and I can see that my former companions
aren't willing to fight for their freedom. I know that I can't fight you
alone and know now that I'll just have to remain your captive. That
doesn't mean I'm going to enjoy being held here as one of your concubines."
She said.

I laughed at her. I couldn't help it. She had no way of knowing how
ridiculous she sounded to me. She was an attractive woman; but considering
what I already had on my plate, she wasn't anything special. I did feel
bad about laughing in her face. There was nothing I could do about it
though, except laugh.

She gave me a really hateful look. I didn't blame her and finally I
managed to quit laughing.

"I wasn't trying to make you angry and I guess that was a reasonable
assumption on your part. I can guarantee that you have nothing of the sort
to fear from me, or any male here, along those lines. No woman here is
asked to pay her way with sex. That is my primary rule. I can also tell
you that except for leaving you are perfectly welcome to do anything you
like here. There is no forced service here at all. If you want to help,
we'll be glad to have you. If you want to sit out by the pool all day
working on your tan you are free to. Swimwear optional." I told her
grinning a little at the last.

"Then why all this? We did you attack us?" She asked.

"You all seem to forget that you attacked me. You can thank your leader
James for your troubles. I have a lot of people to take care of here. I
give them shelter and protection and I make sure they have food and
clothing and I try to get them anything else they ask for. I can't let
assholes like you or James or anyone else just come over and shoot at them.
They give me their loyalty and I give them protection and care. I don't
let anyone mistreat them. Shooting at them while they are flying a mission
for me counts as mistreatment." I said.

"How did you know we were attacking the Hawkeye? We could easily have
been exploring. We have a right to fly anywhere we want to." Sue
persisted.

"In the first place you don't have any rights that you can't defend.
There is no United States anymore. You have to furnish your own
protection. Surely you've noticed that a lot of people have died recently.
Secondly we knew when your fighters got above five hundred feet. We
purposely turned around to avoid a confrontation and your fighters came
straight for the Hawkeye, thinking they had an easy target. Hell we heard
them discussing it on their radios. You can forget trying to play innocent
with me. James was hot to finally shoot something and he got what he
deserved. If he'd landed and been content to be a pilot here I could have
soon furnished him with someone to shoot at." I told Sue.

I could tell that she didn't believe me and I was tired of trying to
convince her. Unless she was stupid, and I doubted it, she would soon
realize that she was in a hell of a lot better position now than she had
been out in Arizona.

"Sue that's all I can think of to convince you that your are safe here.
I'm not going to let you leave for a while because you are a skilled pilot,
or claim to be, and I just won't take that risk. When I have my forces
somewhat consolidated I will probably let you go if you want to leave. In
the meantime try to find a way to occupy your time while you're here. If
you are approached by a male demanding sex for your safety, please let any
of the security personnel know at once. He will be taken care of." I told
her and waved her to the door.

Seven came back a few minutes later. I asked her to have the two-woman
teams try to indoctrinate the men we had taken. I didn't want her to have
the women force the men though, even though she had told me that men were
more easily raped than I had probably been led to believe. I couldn't
conceive of any man resisting the temptation of the women that were trained
for the job myself.

"I've already got three of them turned, and believe me it didn't take
any force on the girl's part. The men were separated into the guest rooms
and the girls approached them dressed as nurses, checking them to make sure
they weren't injured." Seven told me giggling.

It sobered me a little and I had another attack of conscience. I was
taking their conscious will from them. Seven noticed my frown.

"Jack, do we have to go over this again. They get the trick or they get
dead. If we gave them a choice what do you think they'd choose?" Seven
asked.

"Maybe we should give them a choice." I said.

"We did Jack, we didn't bother them until they attacked us. That was
their choice. We might have absorbed them later in a more civilized manner
but they didn't give us the chance. They brought their fate on themselves.
They didn't see all the ramifications; but people almost never get to see
the ramifications before the deed is done. They took their shot Jack, and
ended up here. I think they are lucky to be alive." She finished.

I guessed that she was right. If I'd been captured in any of our little
skirmishes, and I had been for a while once, I didn't see myself getting
such generous treatment. Hell listening to Steve all night had been an
evil form of torture itself.

Shit this had all made me tired. Seven and I left the study and headed
for the cafeteria. Susan cheered me up with plenty of good food and a
little teasing. Nancy came by to sit with me and I guess she could tell
that I was tired because she didn't tease me much. She wanted to badly
though.

"Well Jack it's getting a little crowded around here again. I don't
even know how many we have staying her tonight but I can tell bed space
must be tight. The remaining four of the gang's X women have moved into,
Jack's pussy dorm, tonight." She announced gleefully.

"Ain't I lucky!" I exclaimed and tried to make it sound like I was happy
about it.

Nancy laughed and told me that she had warned the women that I
considered any female in there fair game for slap and tickle. She laughed
again when she reported that they had said they would take their chances.

This little by play let more air out of my balloon. I had seen the
women she was talking about lounging around the pool. In a world full of
beautiful women they were some of the finest. I couldn't even find time to
get any off Nancy, much less dip my wick in some new stuff. Hell, Crystal
and Samantha were still waiting for a dicking and I hadn't even had time to
fuck Genine, Kelly's counterpart, who had just returned with the rest of
her team. I had fully intended nailing her the first time I saw her. I'd
nearly ruined my appetite by feeling sorry for myself.

"Cheer up Long Dick, you'll get time to get a little pussy before long,
maybe." She tried not to laugh but couldn't help herself.

It is just depressing when you have more willing women than you even
have a good count on, and you are too tired and nervous to fuck any of
them. I wondered for a moment if Karen could give me something to settle me
down enough to get some pussy. I was too embarrassed to ask her.

This damn leadership gig wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. We
hadn't even had time to seek out the broadcasters today. I intended to get
them tomorrow no matter what came up. I hopped that getting some
organizational people would take some of the load off me. I knew it
probably wouldn't. It seemed now that more organization brought more
decisions. Fuckit, I went to bed.
