I have provided the websites for each so that you can look up the words for yourself. Dictionary.com provides a free utility call "Clever Keys" that allows you to highlight an unknown word, hit CTRL+L, and it will take you to that word on their website. You can find it here: http://www.cleverkeys.com/ck.html?p=home&os= This is an excersize in writing discipline. I am trying to get into the habit of writing something every day. I figure if I use the words of the day from two sources in a sexual context, I will have inspiration and motivation. And now, on to Hammon Wry's Words of the Day! (C) E. Howe 2003 All rights reserved Dictionary.Com's word of the day: scrabble M-W.com's word of the day: tub-thumper "...A bare light bulb hanging from the ceiling speaks of the sort of desolate, desperate living that has become the cliche of noir writing. Add a window overlooking a brick wall, or perhaps the flicker of illuminated railway cars of the 8:53 on its way to Chicago. Draw back for a wider view of this hard-scrabble life, and include the sound of a television down the hall with a tub-thumping preacher extorting money from indigent pensioners. Now throw in oppressive heat, and the attending humidity, and you have a setting worthy of any detective novel. The sound of bedsprings squeaking, and a cheap, chipped headboard rhythmically hitting the wall are telling. You don't have to open the door further to see the beast with two backs on the bed to know what is happening. You can smell it. You can hear the sound of masculine grunting, and the occasional feminine sigh and groan. The squeaking of the bedframe and springs increases in speed, and his grunting follows in time. The smell of sweat and lust are overpowering. With a final burst, the squeaking and thumping stop, and you can hear the man panting. The woman, as usual, says nothing, makes no sound. The bed squeaks again as movement resumes. Time to close the door, and move on."
