Hammon Wry's Words of the Day for Thursday March 6, 2003
Note: Due to copyright laws, I am hesitant to include the definitions
and pronunciations of the words of the day. I have provided the
websites for each so that you can look up the words for yourself.

Dictionary.com provides a free utility call "Clever Keys" that allows
you to highlight an unknown word, hit CTRL+L, and it will take you to
that word on their website. You can find it here:

http://www.cleverkeys.com/ck.html?p=home&os=

This is an excersize in writing discipline. I am trying to get into
the habit of writing something every day. I figure if I use the words
of the day from two sources in a sexual context, I will have
inspiration and motivation.

And now, on to Hammon Wry's Words of the Day!

Dictionary.com's word of the day: salutary
M-W.com's word of the day: crapulous

"..Now here we are at the scene where the porter pretends he's the
gatekeeper of Heaven, and is opening the doors to the souls of the
dead--hey, leave those alone!"
"Nothing dead here, I think"
*leer*
"I'm supposed to be helping you with Shakespeare, not..."
"But Shakespeare makes me horny..."
"Well, afterwards, maybe then, but you have to study this scene at
least."
*sigh*
"I suppose, if you promise"
*kiss*
"I promise. Now, cuddle up, and we will begin. Read this bit out
loud, here"
*points*
"Act II, Scene three."
"Porter: 'Faith sir, we were carousing till the
second cock: and drink, sir, is a great
provoker of three things.

MacDuff: What three things does drink especially provoke?

Porter: Marry, sir, nose-painting, sleep, and
urine. Lechery, sir, it provokes, and unprovokes;
it provokes the desire, but it takes
away the performance: therefore, much drink
may be said to be an equivocator with lechery:
it makes him, and it mars him; it sets
him on, and it takes him off; it persuades him,
and disheartens him; makes him stand to, and
not stand to; in conclusion, equivocates him
in a sleep, and, giving him the lie, leaves him."

"Very good. Hey, you're trying to provoke me again, quit it!"
*pout*
*point*
"What's this bit about nose painting?"
"Well, drinking gives you a bright red nose, yes?"
"Ah, yes, makes sense now. So, what the porter is saying is that
alcohol makes you willing, but unable?"
*nod*
"That's it in a nutshell--did you catch this bit about 'makes a man
stand to, and not stand to'?
*rolls eyes*
"I've had unfortunate experience with that."
*grin*
"Lots of folks think that alcohol is an aphrodisiac. Trouble is, it's
not. It reduces lubrication in women, and deadens nerve endings in
genitalia, both men and women. Crapulous behavior is NOT salutary to
amoury!"
*gasp*
"What you said!"
"I'll have you know that crapulous is a perfectly acceptable word. It
comes from Latin 'crapula', which meant intoxication, and originally
came from the Greek as a reference to a hangover"
"How did you get so smart? I find that very sexy..."
*stroke*
*!*
*grin*
