A graduate of Columbia University, former college professor and a solider and medic in Vietnam, Henry had struggled with depression for years and now wrote poetry while driving a taxi cab for Hudson Street Fleets, ground zero, George Washington Memorial Bridge, Fort Lee, NJ. Laurie, falling in love with Henry, had given up drugs and those easy excuses for failures. Nonetheless, tragedy followed her home that April night from the Gables Pub where she had once worked as an exotic dancer. One of the dancers, Dolores, had told the press that Laurie never had looked better. Dolores said "I was jealous of her good luck. I remember asking her if she would come back to dance after the baby was born." She said Laurie had told her quietly, with a smile, "I will miss it, but I will never do it again. Henry would like it too much." Henry distraught told his best friend Aaron soon after Laurie was reported missing, "Can you imagine her not alive." In those months after Laurie was taken, she became more than an America tragedy and another victim in a river of scenes from our daily prurient hell.
