Sigh. Real life can be a real pain in the ass sometimes. I know
it's been a while since the last review, and I apologise. Sometimes
real life rears its ugly head and demands attention. Even Seren
was battered.

And while there weren't a great number of stories that grabbed
my attention this week, sometimes that's how it goes.

Mary, the narrator's wife, falls into a cycle of sexual slavery
with a man that she met online. He controls her utterly, and it
is unclear really, what motivates her to accept this condition,
but accept it she does. She is not really the focus of the story.
Our narrator is faced with difficult choices -- to stay with
his 'new' wife, or to let her go to the 'Master'.

Joe does a decent job of presenting those choices, and
though he may have taken the story in a direction that I wouldn't
have chosen, I think the focus was on the narrator's indecision
and the story certainly works as written. It makes us
wonder -- what would we do if we were faced with a lover who
was warm and loving, but was no longer ours? Interesting premise.

A good poem transports the reader into another land, where one
sees imagery, and feels things that a mere story cannot provide.
Daughters of Neptune, and Druid's altars.

Oh yes, this is from the land of Dragons. Go read it.

Totally Crazy -- Cyan (FFF, spank)

Deb is talking to Martha one day, and Martha confesses, matter-of-factly
that she'd had a spanking relationship with Bella. This is shocking,
of course, but over time, Deb begins to obsess about a girl at work,
Lisa, and how she'd like to spank her. No sex -- just spank her,
like Martha had Bella.

I liked the characterisation in this story -- the narrator's
confusion and hesitancy, along with the other women's reaction.
It wasn't a typical jump-at-the-first-chance-no-matter-how-unlikely
scenario spanking story. There was much more to it, and it
projected an air of realism.

I found the ending a little unbelievable, given the lead up, but
overall, it wasn't a poor ending, just different than I'd expected. 
In fact, the whole story is a little different than I'd expected.
Sometimes it's nice to be surprised.
