Hi! We're Peaches & Cream. We're just two ordinary Joes who like
reading and romance. Recently, there was a Summer Solstice Romance
Festival on ASSM, and it caught our attention. We started discussing
the stories and our reviews were born. Our format is simple: one of us
starts the review, the other chimes in, and then the starter finishes
it off. Because this is all about romance, we'll be scoring with 0-5
kisses. We'll be posting a review a day until we finish the stories
that were submitted, beginning with the Flash stories.

There is a website devoted to the festival where you can find all the
stories we will review.

Peaches & Cream Reviews # 10

A wise woman never yields by appointment. It should always be an
unforeseen happiness.
--Stendhal (1783-1842), French author.

Summer Storm by Mat Twassel

Peaches:

A husband and wife find something to do during a blackout. A special
candle, a useless flashlight and romance. Maybe I'm an old softie for
romance between married couples, but I like this. The storm, the rain,
the lack of lights don't take over the story. They're only props that
give a great flavor to the scene.

My only complaint would be the two passages so close together both
using, "soon."

>Jo-Jo stood patiently. Soon the buttons were undone.
>"I'm curious how you'll manage the sleeves
>with me holding the candle."

>Ignoring the sleeves, Joe worked on the shorts, the
>panties. Soon Jo-Jo stood naked--just her unbuttoned
>blouse.

I give it 4.5 kisses

Cream:

I like the way this sudden storm turns this middle-aged married couple
into kids again, bringing some fresh spark into their lives. Okay, not
quite kids, but the role reversal is kind of fun. These people in
their passion are efficient and playful, caring and lucky. I'll go
along with 4.5 kisses.

Peaches:

I remember nearly being caught by my parents when I was a teen, and my
guess is many parents find themselves in that role reversal. They
aren't always told later so wonderfully as this story has been told,
though. What a shame. (Parents write your stories, we want to hear
them, especially if they're romantic.)
